's Expert Guide to Dinner Shows in Orlando

The many varieties of Dinner Shows are another mainstream experience hereabouts, and it is hard to avoid trying at least one, even if they seem rather corny (and the food is often less than gourmet fare). The Medieval Times show features some outstanding entertainment (and a hearty meal), while Sleuths Mystery Dinner Theater is a more offbeat and small-scale version with adult appeal, with plenty of humour (if you find the likes of murder-mysteries amusing, as we do!). Children are especially drawn to the Outta Control Magic Show. Orlando’s newcomer is the Titanic Dinner Experience, a compelling interactive retelling of the Titanic story.

Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament

Medieval Times Dinner Show Orlando

It’s 11th Century Spain, and King Don Carlo’s realm is at peace. His beautiful daughter is of marrying age and, with the help of Lord Ulrick, Herald to the King of the North, the two kingdoms may be united. But we all know that’s not going to happen, is it? Cue the betrayal and the battles!

  • Highlights: No doubt about it, the highlights of the show are the jousting contests and games of skill. Knight fighting against knight with the crowd cheering and the sparks from their swords flying, it’s a true spectacle and, while the choreography is heavily rehearsed, the action is real.
  • Food: It’s a feast of roast chicken, spare rib, herbed jacket potato, tomato bisque, garlic bread and a pastry. In true medieval style, you’ll be eating with your hands, but don’t worry, your server will provide you with plenty of serviettes, and the soup bowl does have handles. Vegetarian meals upon request when booking.
  • Location: 4510 W. Vine Street in Kissimmee, just off of Highway 192.
  • Duration: 2 hours.

Sleuths Mystery Dinner Show

Sleuths Murder Mystery Dinner Show Orlando

Living Cluedo, anyone? Things are going well in the lives of some rather eccentric characters (who vary according to which of the 12 different shows you see), and then, suddenly, a murder occurs. It’s up to you and your tablemates to figure out whodunit, which is easier said than done. We think this is one of Orlando’s best evening entertainment options, especially for teens and adults. As well as being a brain-bender, it’s hilarious!

  • Highlights: Every clue you need to figure out the murder and their motive is given during the course of the show…but subtly. Very subtly. And it’s a thrilling challenge trying to pick up on the small details. Another highlight? The repeat factor here is enormous. The character interactions (and the murderer!) change with each show, so it’s never exactly the same twice.
  • Food: Salad, biscuits with cheese spread, choice of Cornish game hen, Prime Rib, or Four Cheese Lasagna, all with appropriate side dishes, plus a ‘mystery’ dessert. Kids meals of chicken tenders or macaroni cheese available.
  • Location: 8267 International Drive, right in the heart of the tourist strip.
  • Duration: 2½ hours.

Titanic Dinner Event

This original show-cum-dinner takes place inside the Titanic: The Experience attraction and puts guests at the heart of a celebratory dinner aboard the famous ship, with the chance to witness the fateful events and the inter-play among the chief characters, including Captain Smith, some of his officers, shipyard owner J Bruce Ismay and celebrity passengers like Molly Brown and Lady Astor. The evening includes a tour with Titanic designer Mr Andrews (of Harland & Wolff, of course) and a farewell address by one of the ‘officers,’ about some of the real events of the night in question.

  • Highlights: The full Titanic tour with Mr Andrews, including a visit to the ‘Bridge,’ at the moment the iceberg strikes the ship. There is no official dress code but you might want to put on your best frock and a jacket or sweater for this one (especially as it can be a bit chilly inside).
  • Food: This is one of the best set meals on offer – a Spring Mix Salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette; Consomme Olga; Fillet of Beef with Mushroom Demi-Glaze or Chicken Breast with Lyonnais sauce; Seasonal Vegetables and Rosemary Roasted Red Potatoes; Vienna Rolls with Butter; and a White Chocolate & Raspberry Mousse. Children’s meal includes chicken tenders with macaroni and cheese.
  • Location: 7324 International Drive, just north of Sand Lake Road.
  • Duration: 2 hours.

The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show

Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show

It’s a dinner show like no other as illusionist Tony Brent wows the crowd with magic, comedy, and hilarious impersonations. The setting is intimate (only 125 guests), so you can expect some audience interaction.

  • Highlights: Tony may know what he’s doing, but the audience volunteers usually don’t, which makes for an evening with plenty of laughter. We also think it’s exceptional value for money, and who doesn’t like a bargain?
  • Food: Unlimited cheese and pepperoni pizza, salad, popcorn and dessert.
  • Location: 9067 International Drive, inside Wonderworks.
  • Duration: 90 minutes.
