's Expert Guide to Universal's Volcano Bay

Universal’s Volcano Bay is a new innovative water theme park unlike anything you’ve seen before. Combining refreshing relaxation experiences with ultimate thrills, there really is something for everyone. Universal's newest park welcomes you into a 28-acre tropical oasis with four themed areas inspired by the Pacific isles.

What not to miss

Standing at a staggering 200-foot-tall in the centre of the park, is impressive volcano Krakatau. The jaw dropping attraction has rushing waterfalls cascade down the side during the day, but at night the Volcano transforms as it becomes illuminated with a flow of bubbling molten lava.

The Krakatau Aqua Coaster:

Volcano Bay's star attraction will take you right through the heart of the enormous volcano and will be the first attraction of its kind in Florida. Great fun for the whole family, climb aboard specially designed 4-seater canoes and get ready to twist, turn and plummet through the volcano’s interior peaks and valleys before being launched through the rushing waterfalls.

Avoid the Queues

At Volcano Bay, you can forget the queues and spend more time enjoying the rides with an advanced queuing system. Universal have introduced a state of the art TapuTapu wearable, which is a wristband that lets you virtually wait in line, while you’re having fun exploring different areas of the park! The wearable will alert you when it’s your turn to ride, giving you enough time to get back to the attraction.

Exhilarating attractions:

Of course the highlight of this new park is the incredible water slides. For real thrill seekers the top choice has to be Ko’okiri Body Plunge that sends you plummeting 125-feet through the Krakatau volcano into a pool of guests (the first water slide in the world to do so). Or, for groups of daredevils, Puihi of the Maku Puihi is a multi-passenger raft ride that plunges you into total darkness before launching into a terrifying zero-gravity drop.

Compete in a high-speed race on manta shaped mats through enclosed tubes on Punga Racers, twist through 124-foot-long intertwining slides on the Kala and Ta Nui Serpentine Body Slides and make sure you don’t miss the Ohyah and Ohno drop slides that catapult you up to six-feet into the air as you reach the bottom.

Create Special Effects

The TapuTapu wearable also has interactive “tap-to-play” features that allow you to trigger special effects throughout the park. For example, you can shoot water cannons at other guests as they glide down the Kopiko Wai Winding River and illuminate hidden images in the volcano’s dark caves.

The perfect place to relax:

At the base of Krakatau lies the serene Wave Village, an idyllic haven where you can laze the day away on the sandy Waturi beach. Take a dip in The Reef to cool down from the heat and get the best view of riders racing down the Ko’okiri Body Plunge, or for something a bit more exciting try the multi-directional wave pool. The most luxurious way to unwind though is with your very own private cabana.
