Last year, the President of Marvel Studios- Kevin Feige, made a huge announcement that the iconic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at the Disney California Adventure Park, would be undergoing an epic Marvel transformation! In the past few months, Disney Imagineers have been working hard to turn the famous tower into an all-new ride inspired by the blockbuster Guardians of the Galaxy movie. While there’s still a few weeks to wait until you’ll be able to test out Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT, Disney have just unveiled the newly-designed tower, and it looks totally different!
The 13-storey tower has been transformed into the Collector’s Fortress, and while it might look nice on the outside, it’s pretty eerie on the inside! Also known as Taneleer Tivan, the evil Collector uses the fortress to house his range of rare items. If you’re brave enough to step inside, you’ll see the latest addition to his collection- the Guardians of the Galaxy gang! He’s holding the superheroes captive in glass boxes suspended in the air over a terrifying dark abyss. What he doesn’t know, is that the mischievous Rocket raccoon has escaped, and he wants to recruit you to help save the Guardians. Think you’re up for the challenge?
Fans of the Tower of Terror, will be pleased to know that even though the ride’s theming has changed, the exhilarating free-fall drop sequence is still part of the new attraction. As you board the gantry lift, get ready to be launched into an action-packed adventure that sends you shooting upwards and then racing back down again when you least expect it. Feel your adrenaline levels soar, as you rise and fall to the beat of the popular movie soundtrack.
The colourful fortress shimmers in the California sunshine with sparkling details and gleaming pipes that adorn the façade. The pipes are used to power the enormous generator that powers the entire building, and makes sure every cage is kept tightly locked and all of the valuable collectibles are secure. You might also notice some unexplained marks on the structure, but a closer look suggests that someone has previously tried to attack the fortress. Keep a look out, you never know who’s around!
Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT officially opens on 27th May.
