A visit to Dubai isn’t complete until you’ve seen the incredible Burj Khalifa, and considering it’s the tallest building in the world, it would be pretty hard to miss! You can actually go inside the iconic landmark and take in spectacular panoramic views from the observation decks. The gleaming Burj Khalifa stands at a record-breaking 828-metres-tall, and offers visitors the option to ascend to the 124th floor, or if you’re feeling daring- the 148th floor. This is definitely one to tick off your bucket list!
Burj Al Arab:
The self-proclaimed “most luxurious hotel in the world”- the Burj Al Arab, is one of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks. Standing at 321-metres-tall, the famous hotel is designed to look like a billowing sail. While you’ll have to have a big budget if you want to stay here, you can experience a piece of the luxury with a much lower price tag, at one of the amazing restaurants (although these are still fairly expensive). Guests can also enjoy a traditional afternoon tea with a selection of delicious sweet and savoury artisan delights.
The Dubai Fountain:
The Dubai Fountain show can be enjoyed every day from 1pm. While the spectacular show is impressive at any time of day, we’d recommend seeing it at night, when the fountain is illuminated with 6,000 Superlights, and 50 colour projectors. Watch in awe as more than 22,000 gallons of water shoot up to 500-metres in the air (about as tall as a 45-storey building), dancing along in unison to a range of popular songs. This water, music and light spectacle is a must see and the perfect way to end your evening.
Dubai is famous for being a city of luxury and excess, and at the Dubai Mall you can really indulge. The mall is the largest shopping centre in the world, spanning over 13-million square feet, which is about the same size as 50 football pitches! Enjoy some serious retail therapy to suit all budgets with over 1,200 shops to explore. From designer brands like Chanel, Cartier, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Gucci and Tiffany & Co, to high-street brands like Gap, H&M, Kurt Geiger, Topshop, River Island and Zara, there’s something for everyone. There’s also a Souk where you can find some amazing one-of-a-kind pieces to take home.
It’s not just shops though, there’s plenty of restaurants serving delicious American, British, French, Chinese and Indian cuisine, as well as a cinema, ice rink and the famous 10-million-litre aquarium!
Dubai Parks and Resorts:
Dubai Parks and Resorts opened in 2016, instantly becoming the city’s newest must-see attraction. Made up of 3 theme parks and 1 water park, the resort offers guests an action-packed day out as well as a way to escape the Dubai heat, as lots of the attractions are either shaded or inside. MOTIONGATE Dubai is all about the movies, and invites you to immerse yourself into the world of Hollywood films. There’s 27 innovative rides for all age groups, including the first ever Hunger Games themed ride in the world. There’s also attractions themed on Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda, Ghostbusters and Step Up, as well as an entire Smurfs Village!
Bollywood Parks Dubai is the only park of its kind in the world and offers a totally unique theme park experience with incredible attractions inspired by blockbuster Bollywood movies. Don’t miss the all-singing, all-dancing Broadway style show that takes place at the Rajmahal Theatre each night! LEGOLAND Dubai is great fun for the whole family, with a host of attractions designed especially for little ones aged between 2-12, while the LEGOLAND Water Park is the perfect place to make a splash and cool down from the heat!
The sun is always shining in Dubai and what better way to make the most of it, than a visit to the beach? There’s plenty of beautiful white sandy beaches to choose from, but Jumeirah Beach is one of our top picks. Look one way and you’ll see the waves rolling in, and look the other way and you’ll see towering skyscrapers! If you want to laze the day away on a sun lounger or take a dip in the crystal-clear waters, this is the place for you. Looking for a bit of adventure? There’s plenty of exciting water sports to try, including jet skiing and kitesurfing to name just a few. You can even take to the skies and enjoy a parasailing experience for a bird’s-eye view of Dubai. If you’re planning a visit, make sure you pack plenty of sun cream!
Dubai Marina Walk:
There’s plenty to do at Dubai Marina Walk, but one of our favourite things is to simply take a relaxing stroll or watch the boats sail by with a drink in hand. There are lots of bars and restaurants to choose from (69 to be exact), making this an ideal place to come for dinner. There’s also 305 outlets, or the nearby 4-storey Dubai Marina Mall if you want to treat yourself and pick up a little something to bring back home.
Wild Wadi Water Park:
Need to cool down from the heat? Wild Wadi water park is the answer! With 30 amazing rides and attractions, the park provides a fun-filled day out for the whole family. Thrill seekers will absolutely love the park’s star attraction- Jumeriah Sceirah. Get ready to scream as you plummet down a 120-metre slide at 50mph! The gravity-defying attraction is the tallest and fastest freefall water slide outside of North America. For something tamer, float along the 360-metre long Juha's Journey lazy river.
