MOTIONGATE Dubai is still a relatively new theme park, having opened in December 2016. The park is part of the Dubai Parks and Resorts, which also includes Bollywood Parks Dubai, LEGOLAND Dubai and LEGOLAND Water Park. If you’re planning a holiday to this fascinating city, and fancy some theme park fun, this is the place to go. MOTIONGATE Dubai is made up of 5 themed lands inspired by some of the most famous motion picture studios in the world. You’ll get to see some of your favourite characters but also ride incredible attractions inspired by classic movies. With so many great rides to choose from it was hard to narrow it down to just 5, but here are our favourites…
For Hunger Games Fans-
Capitol Bullet Train
This is an absolute must try for any fan of the Hunger Games. In fact, MOTIONGATE Dubai is the only place in the world where you’ll find Hunger Games-inspired rides, so make sure this is at the top of your list. Thrill seekers will love the exhilarating Capitol Bullet Train half-pipe roller coaster, which catapults you from District 12 to the Capitol at top speed. The ride also features a zero-g roll and 2 inversions, so brace yourself for something seriously exciting. The coaster is surrounded by iconic landmarks that you’ll recognise from the movies. Spend some time exploring the area and if you’re feeling hungry stop by Peeta’s Bakery.
Hunger Games fans are in luck, as there’s not just one themed ride in this area, but two! 'Panem Aerial Tour' will immerse you into the incredible world of the Hunger Games, where you’ll travel from the Capitol to the post-apocalyptic world of Panem aboard an impressive hovercraft. Prepare for a battle- it could break out at any minute!
For Thrill Seekers-
Madagascar Mad Pursuit
You’ll find this fun ride in the DREAMWORKS area of the park. When you think of a Madagascar ride, you might assume that it’s going to be for kids, but in fact Madagascar Mad Pursuit is the fastest ride in the park and has even been described as the “fastest, craziest rollercoaster you will ever see”. So, if you like thrilling rides, this one is definitely for you. There’s plenty of dips and dives in the darkness, as well as speeds of more than 50mph! Get ready for a one-of-a-kind adventure as you race through a dazzling circus with the Zoosters, trying to escape the evil animal control officer Captain DuBois.
For the Kids-
This is one of the park’s tamer rides, that’s great for families to enjoy together. Kids will love the adventure, while big kids will love reliving the classic story of Shrek. Venture into the friendly ogre’s swamp and join Shrek and Fiona as they host a birthday party celebration for their adorable triplets. Spin around Shrek’s home in this fun-filled ride as huge mud bubbles erupt from the swamp around you. This is the first time ever, that Shrek’s famous swamp has been recreated in real life, so make sure you check it out and take plenty of photos while you’re there.
For an exciting adventure-
This amazing ride is inspired by the movie ‘How to Train Your Dragon’. Climb aboard and get ready to soar through the skies as you discover exactly what it feels like to fly! You’ll swoop through dark caves and circle high above the village of Berk alongside Hiccup and his best friend- Toothless the dragon. Fans of the movie will recognise the Forbidden Mountains and plenty of familiar faces along the way.
This is another great attraction that’s suitable for the whole family. The world’s only hotel for monsters is now open and it’s allowing humans to step inside- those who are brave enough of course! The exciting ride lets you explore the 2800-metre giant castle, but be warned, you’ll be travelling in eerie coffin-like carriages. This is one of the park’s longest rides lasting around 7 minutes, meaning there’s plenty of time for lots of surprises. You can expect to see familiar characters like Dracula and his daughter Mavis, Frankenstein, Wayne the Werewolf and Murray the Mummy. Keep a look out, as you never know what’s lurking around the next corner.
