Universal Studios Hollywood have just announced that they will be launching a spectacular new show, and the good news is, there’s not long to wait! Next month, a brand new show called ‘The Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle’ will debut at the park, and visitors will be able to see it in all its glory from 23rd June!
Get ready to experience the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in a whole new light, as the immersive world comes to life after dark. A dazzling light projection show will take place against the beautiful backdrop of Hogwarts Castle. Watch in awe as the night sky is illuminated with bursts of colour. You’ll be able to get the perfect view of the towering castle from Hogsmeade Village.
The famous Sorting Hat will kick off the 5-minute spectacular, as vibrant red, green, yellow and blue images are projected onto the castle front to reflect the school’s four houses- Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. The park’s Senior Manager of Audio and Visual Projection (Stacey Quinealty) said “we really wanted the guests to have that bone-chilling moment and go, ‘wow this is something I’ve never experienced before’”. By the looks of it, we expect Harry Potter fans will do just that!
The impressive light projections will dance across the castle’s façade in time to an epic score created by Academy Award-winning composer John Williams. John worked on the score for the original Harry Potter movies, and has created a medley of music that guests will instantly recognise, for the new production.
The impressive musical arrangement was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at the famous Abbey Road Studios, in the world’s largest recording studio- Studio One. The sound of the orchestra will echo across the park through a state of the art surround sound speaker system. Stacey Quinealty said that the aim of this was to give the audience “a sense that they are wrapped by the orchestra, not just watching something at a distance”.
This incredible show will take place several times in the evening, providing the perfect end to a fun-filled day exploring the park. We thought the park couldn’t get any more magical, but it looks like we’ve been proven wrong! So, grab a glass of Butterbeer and get ready to enjoy the show! Whatever you do, make sure you don’t miss it.
