The Statue of Liberty is not only one of the most famous landmarks in New York City, but one of the most famous landmarks in the world! No trip to the Big Apple would be complete without seeing Lady Liberty in all her glory, and of course taking a few photos to remember the moment. There are plenty of ways to see the iconic statue, but here are our favourites…
From the sky:
Looking for jaw-dropping views? You simply can’t beat the epic views of the city from the sky! The Big Apple Helicopter Tour takes you up above the towering skyscrapers for an exciting experience you’ll never forget. As you soar across the city, you’ll pass famous landmarks like the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building and the One World Trade Center to name just a few. You’ll even get to fly right up close to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island! If you’re looking for a bit of adventure, this is definitely the best way to admire the Statue of Liberty.
Get ready to set sail on a Statue of Liberty Sightseeing Cruise. The 60-minute journey offers amazing views of the Manhattan skyline, but the highlight of the trip is definitely seeing the Statue of Liberty. Sail within 100-feet of the iconic landmark, and make the most of the fantastic photo opportunity! There will also be a tour guide on board, giving a fully narrated commentary and sharing some of Lady Liberty’s best kept secrets. There’s even a full bar, serving beer, wine and cocktails, so you can make a toast to your holiday as you take in the spectacular views. Tickets are open dated, so you can enjoy this sightseeing cruise whenever is most convenient.
You can also enjoy a Harbour Lights Evening Cruise, which lets you see the Statue of Liberty all lit up!
From the bridge:
With this one, you can tick two things off your bucket list at once- a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge and seeing the Statue of Liberty! We’d recommend going just before sunset, so you can watch the city transform as the sun goes down and the city is illuminated with dazzling lights. This is also a great time for taking incredible photos (and of course a few selfies!). Grab a cup of coffee and take a leisurely walk across the beautiful bridge taking in the city’s most famous sights along the way.
From the Island:
If you want to get as close as possible to the statue, the best way is to go to Liberty Island- the place that Lady Liberty calls home. Step foot onto the Island and gaze up at the 310-foot-tall beauty. You’ll be able to take some great pictures and see the statue in all its glory. If this attraction is top of your ‘must-see’ list, a visit to the island is definitely worth considering, as this is as close as you can get! If you’re up for a challenge, you can go inside the statue and climb the steps to either the pedestal or the crown (377 steps!). This comes at an extra cost, but the amazing views are worth it. You can also choose to make a stop at Ellis Island on the way back and learn all about its rich history.
If you want to visit the island, our great value multi-attraction passes give you admission to both Liberty and Ellis Island, as well as several amazing attractions. Depending on the pass, you’ll be able to choose a certain amount of attractions to visit, whilst saving up to 45% off the price on the door, which is perfect if you're planning on doing lots of sightseeing (and who isn't in New York City?).
With a nice meal:
A visit to NYC is always packed with plenty of sightseeing, which can often leave you short of time. If the Statue of Liberty is something you definitely want to see, why not save some time, and combine the experience with a delicious evening meal? The Bateaux New York Dinner Cruise invites guests on a scenic cruise along New York’s Hudson and East Rivers. Not only will you get a close-up view of the floodlit Statue of Liberty, but also Ellis Island, the Brooklyn Bridge and the World Trade Center to name a few. Enjoy a delicious 3-course meal, with dishes like goat cheese salad to start, maple and mustard glazed chicken with potatoes and chives for the main course, and a slice of traditional New York style cheesecake for dessert. There’s even a live jazz band on board to keep you entertained!
Staten Island Ferry:
If you’re visiting New York on a budget, the Staten Island Ferry is a great way to see the Statue of Liberty because it’s completely free! Primarily used for commuting, this is the way most New Yorkers get to work, with around 70,000 passengers climbing on board every single day! Although you’ll be able to enjoy views of the statue in the distance, if it’s something you really want to see, we’d recommend trying a sightseeing cruise instead, as it will be less busy and you’ll get a much closer view- perfect for taking all those photos!
