Northern Italy – A perfect destination All Year Round

Located in the heart of the Netherlands, Efteling is a spectacular world of wonders the whole family will adore. With a plethora of attractions for little ones and daredevils alike, there’s a magical surprise in store for everyone – and this summer there are even more exciting treats to look forward to! Symbolica: a spellbinding …

Things to do in Turin

Flying into Turin, Italy was only a few short hours from Gatwick, London.

This beautiful, colorful and well coordinated trading city is a friendly host to new arrivals. With easy access via Genoa in the west, Milan in the East and it’s location slightly south of the Italian Alps provides for amazing views and crisp fresh air. Attractions are found almost around every corner.

Steeped in history Turin’s museums, rich architecture and flowing street makes it a must visit location.

  1. Egyptian Museum of Turin
  2. Juventus Stadium
  3. Museo Nazionale del Cinema
  4. Mole Antonelliana
  5. Palazzo Reale

Things to do in Aosta

Roughly 1hour 15mins north of Turin is the town of Aosta nestled in the tough of the mountains.

This delightful location comes alive at weekends with multiple bars and eateries to spend quality time with those whom you are with and those you’ll meet.

The cable car has access to the ski slopes during the winter months, quality skiing for 2-3 days with reasonably priced refreshments, cappuccino and chocolate croissant for 2€ 60c with a vizier of alpine terrain – perfect.

  1. Piazza Emile Chanoux
  2. Castello Duca degli Abruzzi
  3. Bar 63
  4. Museum of Saint Anselmo Academy
  5. Old Distillery Pub

Things to do in Milano

With high expectations I was really looking forward to visiting Milano but struggled to synchronize with the vibe. The buildings in the centre are monuments to the fine quality and craftsmanship.

The Metro is easy to navigate and again, pricing in and around 2€ for a single, just check the urban zones. Milano is chic and a mecca for the shopaholic.

  1. Milan Cathedral
  2. Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie
  3. Grand Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
  4. Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology
  5. Piazza dei Mercanti

The Northern Lakes, Lake Maggiore, Lake Como and Lake Garda

Northern Lakes

Things to do in Lake Maggiore

Top of the Hit list being the beautiful lake side settlements and holiday playground of Stresa and Arona.

These two delightful locations are worth all the time you can afford. Walking around and soaking up the atmosphere is a million miles away from the office life! Press the reset button and relax.

Things to do in Lake Como

Walk and explore, consume the natural beauty, find a delicious coffee and repeat.

Things to do in Lake Garda

My parents said it was beautiful and I can also confirm this as fact.

We headed to Sirmione on the southern board.

High quality shops, restaurants and feel factor. Plenty to do for a day trip with walks, parks and boat trips.

If you fancy a dip, the water’s a little cooler in February but still great fun.  In and around Lake Garda there’s plenty to do. Via Train, head to the Peschiera Del Garda Railway Station.

There are free buses to the major theme parks only a short drive away:

  1. Gardaland
  2. Movie land
  3. Sea life
  4. Safari World
  5. Sirmione

Things to do in Verona

The highlight for me! Beautiful, charming and completely absorbing. Time in Verona is well spent even if it’s a simple weekend retreat.

Open markets sell ‘Goods’ (not tat), friendly faces everywhere, shopping to meet all budgets, delicious food and wine – skipping Verona would be a crime against your well-being.

  1. The majestic Arena
  2. Piazza delle Erbe
  3. Castelvecchio Bridge and Museum
  4. Arche Scaligere
  5. ‘Juliet’ balcony’ at Casa di Giulietta

Things to do in Venice

Arrived by Train and left by ferry.

What an incredible and inspiring city. As it was February, the crowds of tourists were, I’m assuming, orderly and relatively low level.

Venice has a population of 54k and welcomes some 20m people per annum. Plenty of gift shops and high end fashion bouquets.

Walking around the maze that is Venice is wonderful. You may find yourself confused but you’ll not be lost for long.

Pop into any shop and ask directions, the Venetians are very obliging.

  1. Lose, and then take great pride in finding yourself.
  2. Rialto Bridge
  3. Saint Mark’s Basilica
  4. Bridge of Sighs, Ponte dei Sospiri
  5. Palazzo Zorzi
