10 New Year's Resolutions for Orlando Holidaymakers

new year's resolutions for orlando holidaymakers
It’s time for a new year of theme park fun - but have you made any resolutions for your 2020 trip to Orlando?
Get fit, eat well, save more - we’ve all heard of the classic New Year’s goals. But what about the resolutions specifically for Orlando holidaymakers?

For many of you, 2020 is the year that you’re finally heading back to Orlando, ready to immerse yourself in a world of magical theme park fun yet again. During your next trip, consider enhancing your holiday with these New Year’s resolutions, and turn your time away into something truly unforgettable.

  1. Offer a lost guest directions

We’ve all been there - navigating our favourite Orlando theme parks can be a challenge, especially if it’s your first visit to the larger attractions and you happen to get separated from your group! If you spot a guest who looks like they’re in need of a friendly nudge in the right direction, don’t hesitate to offer up your expert park knowledge. You may just save someone’s day!
  2. Donate to a local charity

It’s easy to forget about the hard work local charities undertake when you’re caught up in the bubble of the theme parks and attractions in Orlando. However, these guys work year-round to ensure the local area is a welcoming and safe space for all - animals and wildlife included. Do some research and consider sharing your wealth with a local charity during your next trip.
  3. Thank the ride attendants

As our Mum’s always said, good manners cost nothing! While the buzz of experiencing a thrilling attraction can sometimes mean these get overlooked, make 2020 the year that you thank every ride attendant when you get on and off a ride in Orlando. Simple, but incredibly effective, and your politeness will be appreciated.
  4. Bring in your own water bottles

We’re now well aware of how much of an impact plastic waste has on the environment, so there’s no excuse not to do your bit, even when you’re on holiday. Bring in your own (preferably metal) water bottles into the parks, and fill them up at the many water fountains/restaurants around the parks. Not only will you reduce your rubbish, but you’ll also save money too, as you won’t be buying beverages once inside.
  5. Start up a conversation

Attraction queues are a great place to meet new people and extend that holiday fun. While you’re waiting, start up a conversation with a nearby fellow queuer, and get to know more about the Orlando theme park guests. The time will pass quicker and you never know - you may even make a friend for life.
  6. Visit a smaller park

If you’re a return visitor to Orlando, use your 2020 trip to tick off those lesser-known attractions from your bucket list. While many flock to the big two, there’s still loads of fun to be had at places like LEGOLAND Resort Florida, Gatorland, ICON Park, Kennedy Space Center, and much more. These make for great away days and will vary your holiday as well.
  7. Highlight a park employee

If you’ve received exceptional service from a theme park employee during your holiday, don’t just tell your friends/family about it - let their employers know too! Before you leave, quickly pop into the guest park services (or equivalent) and let them know just what an amazing member of staff they have. Your praise could go a long way!
  8. Treat a stranger

Do a good deed and make someone else’s holiday during your next Orlando trip, by treating a stranger to something special. Buy an extra Voodoo Doughnut to giveaway at Universal Orlando Resort, or purchase a Disney Parks Lollipop and leave it for the cashier to giveaway at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Little moments of magic like these will really add happiness to someone else’s special trip, leaving you feeling great too.
  9. Support a local business

Head out and away from the theme park hub during your next holiday and see what the local Orlando and Florida businesses have to offer. You’ll discover amazing culinary delights, special handmade souvenirs, and may even learn more about the surrounding area, which is rich with culture and history. This adds another element to your trip and means you also get to know the ‘real’ Florida, with all it’s fantastic eccentricities!
  10. SMILE

Finally, make sure to maintain the excitement of Orlando’s best theme parks and attractions alive, by keeping that smile wide and bright! A simple smile can brighten up the gloomiest of days (admittedly rare in Orlando), and you’ll be surprised how infectious it can be. Smile at friends, family, strangers, theme park staff, cashiers, and everyone else you come across. Florida is one of the happiest places on Earth, after all!
