Universal have kept very quiet about the brand new coaster coming to their parks, but recent construction work has prompted a swathe of rumours across theme park fan sites…
So what do we know?
We know the new roller coaster at Universal Orlando will be in their Islands of Adventure Park as we can see that construction has already begun on the foundations and track. We also know that the coaster will be in the Jurassic Park area of the park, on the site of the original Raptor Encounter, which has been temporarily moved in order to make way for this new attraction. This new attraction will be the 2nd thrill ride in this area, joining Jurassic Park River Adventure.

...and what are we guessing?
Unconfirmed reports taken from patent applications made by the parks have indicated that the name for the new attraction is the Velocicoaster. The new coaster is reportedly being designed by Intamin, who worked with Universal on Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure, and is said to be a multi-launch coaster which will reach speeds of up to 70mph.
It looks like this new attraction is now set to open in 2021 so we’re hoping to hear news from Universal Orlando Resort before long. We will keep you updated via our blog as soon as we hear more.
