In a press conference earlier this week, SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay unveiled plans for two new roller coasters, coming to the parks in 2020. Here’s what we know about each one:
Ice Breaker
Coming to SeaWorld Orlando in spring 2020
Will be a family-friendly adventure ride
SeaWorld Orlando’s first launch coaster
Feature four launches, going backwards and forwards
Culminates in a reverse launch into the steepest beyond-vertical drop in Florida - a 93-foot tall spike with 100-degree angle
Will be located near the Wild Arctic Attraction
Partnered with Alaska SeaLife Center, an organisation dedicated to marine research, education and wildlife response
Will join SeaWorld Orlando’s iconic rides such as Mako, Manta, Kraken, Infinity Falls and Journey to Atlantis
Iron Gwazi
Opening at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in 2020
Will be North America’s tallest roller coaster
And the fastest, steepest hybrid coaster in the world
Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction
Will be 206 feet tall, have a 91-degree drop and reach speeds of 76mph
Include three inversions and 12 airtime hills
More than 4,075 feet of purple steel track
48” height requirement, so families can ride together
Elements of the former wooden attraction will be integrated into the ride, but will have a new layout and be a unique experience
Will highlight the nostalgia of a wooden coaster and the bold innovation of a steel coaster
The crocodile is the animal inspiration for Iron Gwazi
We’re so excited to experience these brand new roller coasters when they open next year. Let us know which one excites you most via our Facebook page.
