6 Reasons to Visit Universal’s Volcano Bay
The new must-visit park!
There are so many reasons to visit Universal’s brand new water theme park Volcano Bay, but here are our favourites…

After months of anticipation, Universal’s Volcano Bay is now open! The 28-acre tropical oasis is unlike any other theme park in the world. Not a theme park, not a water park, but a water theme park, Volcano Bay offers visitors a totally one of a kind experience. Combining thrilling water slides with luxury relaxation areas, there are plenty of reasons to pay a visit to Volcano Bay! These are our top 6 reasons to visit…

1. There are no queues!

That’s right, everyone’s least favourite part of visiting a theme park is the queues, but at Volcano Bay that’s not a problem. Thanks to the high-tech TapuTapu wearable (a specially designed wristband), you can virtually wait in line for all of the park’s incredible rides, meaning you won’t have to stand around in long queues all day! With just a simple tap, you can secure your place in line, and continue exploring the rest of the park until it’s your turn to ride. An alert will let you know when to make your way back to your chosen attraction. With this amazing new technology, you can really make the most of your day and enjoy as many rides as possible!

2. To try the thrilling water slides

If you like to think of yourself as a bit of a thrill seeker, you’ll love the exhilarating water slides at Volcano Bay. Designed to give the exciting feeling you get on theme park rollercoasters, there’s plenty of slides that will get your heart racing. The park’s star attraction is the Krakatau Aqua Coaster, that takes guests on an exciting adventure through the heart of the 200-foot-tall volcano! This is a great ride for the whole family as the canoes seat up to four people at a time.

At Volcano Bay, there really is something for everyone, with a total of 18 attractions. There’s fun-filled play areas like Tot Tiki Reef for the little ones, family-friendly attractions like Punga Racers (a racing water slide that goes through underwater sea caves) and terrifying slides like Ko’okiri Body Plunge, which are only for the bravest guests!

3. To see the Krakatau Volcano

When you walk into Volcano Bay, you can’t miss the enormous centrepiece- the Krakatau Volcano. Standing at an impressive 200-foot-tall, the volcano stands proud in the heart of the park. During the day water cascades down the sides, but when night falls, the volcano transforms and erupts with blazing red molten lava! Make sure you stay late enough to witness this, as it’s something you really won’t want to miss! The Krakatau Volcano is not only the perfect selfie opportunity, but home to some of the park’s best rides, which actually go through the middle of the striking volcano!

4. You can relax in a luxury cabana

If you want to make your visit even more special, you can rent a private cabana for the day. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind, and it also gives you an escape from the Floridian sunshine if you need a bit of a break. Each cabana offers guests a luxurious experience, with a concierge service, extra-comfy seating, towels and locker service, a small refrigerator stocked with bottled water, a complimentary snack basket, and an exclusive menu of tasty food and drink that can be delivered direct to your sun lounger! Cabana rental starts from approximately $159.99 (plus tax) for the whole day. A single cabana unit can hold up to 6 people, so it’s a great option if you’re splitting the cost.

5. To experience the amazing technology

We mentioned earlier that a revolutionary device called TapuTapu has been specially designed for Volcano Bay. One of its main features is to eliminate the queues, but the amazing wristband can do so much more! It also allows guests to trigger a series of special interactive effects throughout the park, like shooting water cannons at unsuspecting guests with just a tap! That’s not all though, TapTu Pay is a handy feature that lets you pay for food, drink and merchandise throughout the park by tapping your wristband. This means there’s no need to carry cash around that’s likely to get very wet!

Another great feature is that TapuTapu can be used to open and close lockers, meaning you won’t have to spend all day trying not to lose a tiny locker key! If you create a free account on the Universal Orlando Resort app, you can also benefit from TapTu Snap. There are several interactive photo opportunities and selfie spots around the park, and this great feature allows you to connect all the photos you take to your very own account- the perfect way to capture your memories!

6. For the tasty food

The food at Volcano Bay offers guests something completely different. Unlike typical theme park food, the unique menu includes over 60 delicious dishes inspired by the flavours of the South Pacific. Once you’ve worked up an appetite on the exhilarating water slides, head to one of the park’s four restaurants to sample the delicious dishes on offer. Coconut Chicken Curry, slowly smoked glazed Hawaiian Ribs, Poke Poke Bowl, stuffed Tacos, Sushi and the speciality Mango BBQ Pulled Pork Burger, are just a few of the mouth-watering meals you can enjoy. The grown-ups can also try a range of refreshing tropical cocktails at the Dancing Dragons Boat Bar.
