Everything about the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is magical, including the food! The incredible theming runs throughout, meaning you can dine in the Three Broomsticks pub just like your favourite characters and try the delicious food you’ve seen them eating in the movies. There are lots of mouth-watering savoury dishes like traditional fish and chips, Cornish pasties and shepherd’s pie, but this blog is all about our favourite sweet treats! If you’re planning a visit, here are the 6 snacks you must try…
This one has to be at the top of our list! If you’ve watched the Harry Potter movies and seen your favourite characters drinking a delicious-looking glass of Butterbeer, we’re sure you’ve wished you could try it too. Well, at Wizarding World of Harry Potter you can, and a visit really wouldn’t be complete until you have! But what does it taste like? Imagine a sweet, creamy concoction of butterscotch, caramel and cream soda all in one. Sounds good, right? The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is Butterbeer crazy and it comes in several different varieties. You can enjoy frozen Butterbeer, Butterbeer flavoured ice cream, hot Butterbeer and even Butterbeer-flavoured fudge.
2. Florean Fortescue’s Ice Cream
If you’re looking for a great way to cool down from the Floridian heat, a refreshing ice cream from Florean Fortescue’s will do the job. There are so many incredible flavours to try, including traditional flavours like Chocolate and Vanilla. If you fancy something a bit more unusual, you can try the Chocolate Chilli, Earl Grey & Lavender or Strawberry & Peanut Butter. It would be hard to choose a favourite flavour, but we have to admit, we love the Butterbeer ice cream! With so many amazing flavours to try, it’s a perfect excuse to enjoy a second helping.
3. Cauldron Cupcakes
If you’ve been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter before, you may have tried one of the chocolate Cauldron Cakes. Recently, these delicious treats have had a bit of a makeover and we think they look even tastier that before! The rich chocolate cake is now served in a miniature cauldron, topped with bright orange buttercream that’s designed to look like flames. We’d definitely recommend giving these a try, even if it’s just for the Instagram-worthy photo! You can get these delicious treats at either Honeydukes or Sugarplum’s sweet shop.
4. Chocolate Frog
The famous chocolate frog snacks were first spotted in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, when the frog leaped out of Harry’s hand and out of the window of the Hogwarts Express. The chocolatey frog-shaped treats look exactly how they do on screen- packaged in a bright purple box, complete with a collectible wizard card. Bonus points if you get Professor Dumbledore! These also make a great souvenir to bring back home.
5. Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans
Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans are more of a game than a treat. The sweets are just like Jelly Beans, although if you’re a true Harry Potter fan, you’ll know that the flavours aren’t always as nice! So, if you’re feeling adventurous, this is the snack for you. Each box contains a mixture of nice and not-so-nice flavours. You never know what you’re going to get, so pick one at random and prepare for a surprise. You might get lucky with a marshmallow, tutti frutti or candyfloss flavour, or you could end up with grass, soap or earwax- just like Dumbledore.
6. Exploding Bon Bons
If you want to try the Exploding Bon Bons, you’ll have to pay a visit to Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes. The novelty joke shop is famously owned by Weasley twins, Fred and George. Be warned though, if this mischievous Weasley duo have got anything to do with it, you can expect plenty of surprises waiting inside! The Exploding Bon Bons are made from creamy white chocolate with a crunchy orange and pineapple flavoured centre and some popping candy. Try them if you dare!
