Just a short walk away from Universal’s amazing theme parks, Universal CityWalk is the perfect place to enjoy a bite to eat after a long day of theme park fun. There are lots of places to choose from and you’re guaranteed to find something to satisfy your taste buds. If you’re in need of a bit of inspiration, let us help you out with a few of our favourites…
1. Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen
The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is still a fairly new addition to Universal CityWalk, having opened in September 2016. Anyone with a serious sweet tooth is sure to love the delicious menu, but there’s also a wide range of savoury snacks that guests can enjoy too. There’s something for everyone with delicious flatbreads, fresh salads, pasta and juicy burgers all on the menu. For something a bit different, we’d recommend the Coffee and Chocolate Stout Chicken Wings.
While the savoury food here is amazing, the speciality has to be the mammoth milkshakes! These epic shakes come in several mouth-watering flavours, including Marshmallow Crips, Heavenly Hazelnut, and Salted Dulce de Leche to name a few. There’s even a Red Velvet shake topped with a whole cupcake, and a Bacon Brittle shake featuring chocolate covered bacon! Make sure you put the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium on the top of your list.
This unique restaurant offers a choice between burgers and sushi, or if you’re feeling adventurous, a combination of the two, dubbed Burgushi! The Cowfish offers a totally one-of-a-kind dining experience, with an unusual menu that’s guaranteed to please.
If you want to try a bit of everything, choose one of the bento boxes which includes both burger and sushi. You’ll get a mini cheeseburger, sweet potato fries, Thai cucumbers, edamame and a choice of a 4-piece sushi roll. If you’re here for the burgers, we’d recommend the Hoisin Burger- a delicious beef burger, with hoisin cooked short ribs, candied smoked bacon, pickled red onions and English cucumbers, served in a sweet brioche bun.
Little ones can be kept entertained by designing their own fish upon arrival. Keep a look out, as you’ll be able to spot it swimming around the restaurant’s aquarium while you eat.
3. Hard Rock Café
The Hard Rock Café at Universal CityWalk is the largest in the world! When you step inside, you’ll be wowed by the incredible memorabilia belonging to some of the most famous stars of all time. As this is the largest Hard Rock venue, you can also expect to find the largest collection of memorabilia. Get up close to the suit Elvis wore in the movie Viva Las Vegas, a custom guitar belonging to Pete Townshend of The Who and Buddy Holly’s famous black glasses.
Its not just the memorabilia that will put a smile on your face. There’s a 3,000- person ‘Coliseum of Rock’ which hosts regular live concerts. Previous performers include the likes of Bon Jovi, The Killers and Gloria Estefan. Make sure you check out the line-up before you arrive, so you don’t miss out.
The menu has a whole range of ‘Legendary Burgers’ to choose from, as well as ‘Famous Fajitas’, smoked ribs and chicken macaroni cheese.
4. Pat O’Brien’s
We absolutely love this place! Pat O’Brien’s offers a fun-filled night out with live entertainment from 5pm each night. We’d recommend this one for the grown-ups as it becomes much livelier as the night goes on, staying open until 2am! You’ll be able to get a taste of Bourbon Street as the duelling piano players captivate the crowd. You can even request your own songs too!
The menu is full of flavoursome Cajun specialties like Crawfish Etouffee, N’awlins Po’boy and Jambalaya to name just a few. When it comes to desserts, the Beignets have to be our top pick, so make sure you save some room. You can’t leave without trying the world-famous Pat O’Brien’s Hurricane cocktail too.
5. NBC Sports Grill & Brew
The NBC Sports Grill & Brew is the perfect place to go to sit back, relax and watch the big game. There’s almost 100 high-definition screens lining the walls, with constant sports coverage streaming throughout the day. There’s also a huge outdoor screen, used for showcasing the biggest sporting matches. If you want to watch the game with an ice-cold drink in hand, you'll be pleased to hear that there’s over 100 bottles and drafts to choose from.
The menu is made up of a combination of bar classics and new, tasty creations. You can expect loaded chilli nachos, chicken wings, pretzel crusted calamari, flatbreads, juicy burgers, ribs, tacos and much more. If you’ve still got room after all that, there’s lots of delectable desserts to choose from, including a mammoth 7-layer banana cake!
