Universal Studios Florida sure know how to celebrate in style, and their annual Mardi Gras celebrations are undoubtedly one of their biggest! This year, the celebrations will run for longer than ever before, starting in just a few weeks’ time on 3rd February and finishing on 7th April. If you’re visiting Orlando during this time, joining in the fun-filled celebration is a must. Yesterday, Universal revealed some exciting details for Mardi Gras 2018. Here’s what you can expect…
Mardi Gras at Universal is a spectacular celebration with music, dancing and lots of colour! Guests will be able to join in Mardi Gras traditions, taste delicious Cajun cuisine, watch live music, and enjoy an authentic New Orleans experience.
On select nights, there will be live concerts in the Music Plaza, and Universal have confirmed that a host of world-famous artists will be performing. GRAMMY award-winning rapper Macklemore, pop group Fifth Harmony and international star Sean Paul, are just a few of the big names that will be taking to the stage. The Beach Boys, Andy Grammer, Foreigner, Kelsea Ballerini and Fitz and the Tantrums will also be performing, and there are still more artists to be announced.
If you head over to the French Quarter Courtyard, you’ll find talented brass bands, bringing the sounds of New Orleans to Universal Studios Florida. The French Quarter Courtyard is also the place to go to treat yourself to some traditional Cajun cuisine. Sample sizzling Cajun food like spicy jambalaya, shrimp gumbo and red beans & rice to name just a few dishes. Save some room for dessert too, as the sweet beignets are a must-try!
One of the highlights of the festival, is the nightly parade. Trust us when we say you won’t want to miss it! This year, the parade will be constellation themed, featuring six brand new floats inspired by ethereal creatures. Each impressive float will be big, bold and colourful, so make sure you’ve got your camera handy to take plenty of pictures. Here’s a sneak peek at the new designs…
