Universal’s brand new water theme park Volcano Bay will open to the public next week on 25th May. Spanning over 28-acres, the one-of-a-kind park is a mixture between a water park and a theme park, combining exhilarating rides and attractions, with tranquil relaxation experiences. While Universal have teased us with images of what the park might look like, it’s not until now, that they’ve shared actual photos of the park. Here’s a sneak peek inside Volcano Bay…
The Krakatau Volcano is the centrepiece of the park, standing at an impressive 200-foot-tall! During the day you can admire water flowing down the sides, and at night, watch in awe as the volcano erupts with blazing red molten lava.
Volcano Bay has a total of 18 incredible rides and attractions. There’s a mixture of action-packed rides for adventurers and family-friendly rides that you can enjoy together. Some of the water slides even go through the middle of the Krakatau volcano!
There are two play areas designed to keep children entertained. Tot Tiki Reef has spraying fountains and a miniature volcano that toddlers can explore, while Runamukka Reef is a coral reef-inspired 3-story water playground for those a bit older.
For the adults who are looking for something a bit more relaxing, there are a range of luxurious private cabanas available for hire. Sit back, unwind and take in the fantastic view of the Krakatau volcano.
Volcano Bay also has a sandy beach with plenty of sun loungers- perfect for lazing the day away!
The park is made up of 4 different areas, inspired by the Pacific Isles. You’ll be able to spot the Polynesian influences everywhere you go, as the fantastic theming runs throughout the entire park. Look out for hundreds of Tiki faces hidden amongst the rocks, as well as the mystical fish Kunuku.
The TapuTapu wearable is a revolutionary device that means you won’t have to wait in long queues. That’s right, Volcano Bay are saying goodbye to long lines, and you won’t have to carry floats around either! With just a simple tap of the TapuTapu wearable, you’ll be able to secure your place in line for the park’s top rides, whilst enjoying the rest of the exciting attractions. That’s not all though, you can trigger a variety of special effects throughout the park too, just by tapping your wristband.
When you need to cool down from the heat, the best way to do so is with a refreshing cocktail. Volcano bay has a great selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties to choose from. We love the sound of the Toasted Coconut Pineapple beverage- a tasty mix of toasted coconut rum and fresh pineapple juice.
How good do these pizzas look? If you want a bite to eat, Volcano Bay has plenty to choose from, including these mouth-watering Hawaiian and BBQ chicken pizzas. There’s also a selection of island-inspired dishes, like coconut chicken curry, glazed Hawaiian ribs with Boniato mash and mango BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, to name just a few.
