Back in May 2015, Universal announced that they would be opening a ground-breaking new water theme park called Volcano Bay. Since then, we’ve been eagerly awaiting an announcement on when the park would be opening its gates. Universal have now excitingly revealed that Volcano Bay will officially open on 25th May 2017!
The incredible new park will have something for everyone, offering families a fun-filled day out. Spanning over 28-acres, Volcano Bay will be a tropical oasis where grownups can unwind in luxurious cabanas, little ones can splash and play at Tot Tiki Reef and thrill seekers can get the ultimate adrenaline rush on the exhilarating water slides.
The park’s star attraction will be the spectacular 200-foot-tall Krakatau volcano, that has rushing water cascading down the sides during the day, and bubbling lava erupting from the crater at night. The state-of-the-art Krakatau Aqua Coaster will be the must-try ride that takes guests right through the heart of the volcano! Board specially designed canoes, before journeying into the depths of the dark volcano, where you’ll face twists, turns and so much more. Advanced linear induction motor technology will launch the canoes upwards, before suddenly sending you plunging back down again when you least expect it.
With so many amazing attractions to try, you might think that you’ll have to spend a lot of time waiting in long queues to get to the front. This won’t be the case though, as Universal will be introducing the TapuTapu wearable to banish queues. The wearable lets you virtually wait in line, before notifying you when it’s time to return to the ride, meaning you can explore the rest of the park in the meantime. The TapuTapu wearable also features several immersive “tap-to-play” experiences, where you can control special effects throughout the park with just one tap. Try it out in the hidden caves to reveal secret messages.
