Universal have just announced that the third haunted house set to appear at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights will be inspired by the popular Trick ‘r Treat movie. HHN fans might remember that Trick ‘r Treat made its debut at the park last year in the form of a frightening scare zone, featuring live actors and the menacing character Sam. The good news (or should we say bad news?) is, that Sam will be back this year!
If you haven’t seen the movie before (you really should!), Trick ‘R Treat brings several different stories together, all of which occur on Halloween. The common factor with all the stories is Sam, who turns up to punish those who dare to break Halloween traditions. While he may look innocent, Sam is actually a demonic child dressed in dirty orange pyjamas with a mask made from a burlap sack. Our advice would be to avoid him at all costs!
This year, Universal will be unveiling an all-new haunted house themed on the movie. This means you’ll be able to walk through classic scenes and become immersed into the frightening story. If you’re brave enough that is! You’ll be put right in the middle of “grisly scenes and demented characters” as the Halloween festivities begin.
The ‘Guardians of Halloween’ will be there to teach you the traditions and rules of the holiday and it’s imperative that you don’t break them. If you do, Sam will appear to make you face the consequences, with his infamous lollipop. Universal have issued a warning, saying “with monsters around every turn, you need to pay attention…or suffer the ultimate fate”.
Trick ‘R Treat is the third haunted house to be announced for this year’s special event. A haunted house inspired by the hit Netflix series Stranger Things and a Universal original called Dead Exposure: Patient Zero, will also be on the line-up.
