Way back in May 2015, Universal announced an exciting partnership with gaming giant Nintendo, who are famous for producing computer games like Pokémon, Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong. While the announcement guaranteed that something incredible was in the pipeline, very few details were officially confirmed until today. After a long wait, it was finally revealed today that a series of Nintendo-themed areas would be coming to Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Studios Japan and the Universal Orlando Resort! Excited? So are we!
The new expansions will be highly-themed, and aim to “bring the characters, action and adventure of Nintendo video games to life within the Universal theme parks”. Guests will be able to jump straight into the action, as the areas will be fully immersive, turning video games into reality. Picture this, a colourful world entirely dedicated to Nintendo, with piranha plants snapping at you as you walk by, and power-ups all around.
Of course, you can expect to see some of your favourite Nintendo characters too, as well as some of the iconic villains! Hopefully there will be some special meet and greet opportunities, so that you can snap some selfies with your favourites. There will also be plenty of restaurants and shops, so you can pick up some exclusive merchandise to take home.
Don’t worry if you’ve never played a video game before! Universal have promised that there will be something for everyone, with a whole host of interactive and immersive attractions set to open. While there is no news on an opening date yet, construction is already underway! Make sure you keep checking our blog for all of the latest news updates.
