It’s never too soon to start panicking when it comes to Halloween Horror Nights, and while Halloween might still seem like a long time away, we’ve already started to get excited thanks to Universal’s big announcement! Yesterday, it was confirmed that the first haunted house would be themed on the popular TV series American Horror Story.
If you’re a Halloween Horror Nights fan, you’ll know that this isn’t the first time American Horror Story has been a part of this incredible event. It made its debut in the form of a petrifying haunted house at last year’s celebration, and thanks to popular demand, it will be returning to haunt guests this year!
This time, the haunted house will be completely different, featuring all-new content from season 2: Asylum, season 3: Coven and season 6: Roanoke. There will be so much to see (if you’re brave enough to keep your eyes open that is!), as this will be the largest maze. Universal are calling it their “uber-maze” and are using their largest floor map to bring to life each amazing series.
Here's a sneak peek of what's in store...
In Asylum, you must travel through the decades of the notorious Briarcliff- a mental institution for the criminally insane. You’ll see some of the mysterious residents, before coming face to face with serial killer ‘Bloody Face’. Coven will place you in New Orleans, where you’ll face the wrath of the descendants of the Salem witches. Roanoke is the final stop, where you’ll be at the mercy of Piggy, the Polk family and the ghosts of the blood moon, as you relive the terrifying story of the Miller family. Make sure you keep a look out, as there will be plenty of other characters you’ll recognise from onscreen, lurking behind every corner.
Both the American Horror Story series creator Ryan Murphy and 20th Century Fox have been working with Universal to create a haunted house that is totally authentic and true to the series. One thing’s for sure, everything from the settings, to the props and special effects will be terrifying, immersing you into the scariest moments from each series.
This year’s Halloween Horror Nights will be the 27th annual Halloween celebration that Universal Studios has hosted. The event is running from the 15th September- 4th November, so if you’ll be in Orlando during this time, it’s really worth considering paying a visit to one of Orlando’s biggest events of the year. Last year’s line-up included The Exorcist, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Walking Dead and Krampus to name just a few, and we can’t wait to find out what else is in store for Halloween Horror Nights 2017.
