Disney’s amazing FastPass+ service gives you the chance to make reservations to skip the standard queue for popular rides, shows and character encounters before you even arrive at Walt Disney World. You can start booking your FastPass+ reservations up to 30 days in advance, or 60 days in advance if you’re staying at a Disney Resort Hotel. What’s even better, is that this great service is included FREE with your Disney tickets!
If you haven’t visited Walt Disney World before, it might be hard to know where to start when it comes to making your reservations. That’s why we’ve put together a handy guide of which rides you should use Disney’s FastPass+ for. We’ve chosen our top three picks from each Disney park to help you decide…
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Avatar Flight of Passage
This has to be at the top of our list, as ever since it opened in 2017, it’s become one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World. You might have heard that the highly themed queue area is well worth experiencing, and while it is impressive, if you haven’t got much time (or just don’t want to wait in line) we’d definitely suggest using FastPass+ for this. At peak times queues can be around 2 hours long!
If you want to experience Na’vi River Journey too (and we think you definitely should!) we’d recommend arriving early and heading straight for this before the queues start to build. If you book your FastPass+ for Avatar Flight of Passage an hour or so after the park opens, you’ll have plenty of time to do Na’vi River Journey first.
Expedition Everest is great fun, and while it may not be for the little ones, older children are sure to love it. We’ve put this on our list, as we think you can’t visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom without giving it a go. The thrilling expedition takes you on an exciting journey through the icy peaks of the Himalayas, where you’ll have to try and escape the clutches of the abominable snowman. Without warning, you’ll suddenly screech to a halt, before an exhilarating race backwards into the dark mountain. If you want to avoid the queues (who doesn’t?) then make sure you use Disney’s FastPass+ for this ride.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to more than 1,700 beautiful animals and one of the best ways to see them is on Kilimanjaro Safaris. You’ll be able to climb aboard an open-air safari for a tour of the African savannah. Look out for giraffes, lions, rhinos, alligators, gazelles and much more, along the way. This is an extremely popular attraction, so it’s best to use Disney’s FastPass+ if this is on your must-do list.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is a fan favourite at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The action starts straight away as you take off into the night, reaching speeds of up to 60mph in just 2.8 seconds! As you race to get to the Aerosmith concert on time, you’ll hear their famous music blasting through the speakers and feel your heart race. This is one you won’t want to miss. If you’re all about the big rides, we’d recommend using FastPass+ for this and our next suggestion- the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is one of the most iconic rides at Walt Disney World and a standout feature of Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park. The terrifying and unpredictable drop sequence makes this one of our favourite attractions and if you consider yourself a thrill seeker, a visit to Walt Disney World isn’t complete until you’ve tried it. Make sure you keep your eyes open for a look out over the park when you reach 13-storeys high!
Slinky Dog Dash

If you’re a Toy Story fan (who isn’t?) you’ll want to try out the amazing new attractions at Toy Story Land. Unfortunately, for now, you can only use FastPass+ for one of the Toy Story Land attractions as they’re all in the same category. We’d recommend choosing Slinky Dog Dash, as it’s a fun, family-friendly coaster that everyone can enjoy. You’ll climb onto the back of the loveable Slinky Dog, before embarking on a wild ride around a track that was built by Andy.
Since the opening of Toy Story Land in June 2018, the Hollywood Studios FastPass+ tier system changed. Tier 1 now includes all 3 Toy Story attractions, so while you may have to choose between them, it does mean that you can try one of the park’s newest rides, as well as the old favourites like Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror!
Frozen Ever After
Ever since this ride opened in 2016, it’s been one of the most popular rides at the park. Kids and big kids alike all want to experience the Frozen magic, which can inevitably lead to long wait times. If you or anyone in your group is a big fan of Frozen, then you really should use FastPass+ for this ride. Look out for Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and the adorable Olaf along the way and expect a few surprises too!
Calling all thrill seekers! Test Track is the fastest ride at Walt Disney World, so if you’re all about the fast rides, this one’s for you. First, you’ll get to design your own racing car, before taking to the track to test out the new design. Brace yourself for serious speed, as you’re catapulted forwards, reaching speeds of up to 65mph. If this is one you don’t want to miss out on, make sure its on your FastPass+ list to avoid the queues.
Soarin’ is one of Epcot’s most famous rides and has become even more popular since its recent makeover in 2016. This incredible attraction makes you feel as though you’re flying! You’ll get the chance to virtually travel across the world as you soar high above iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, Great Wall of China, Iguaza Falls and much more. During peak times, queues for Soarin’ can be some of the largest in the park, so we’d advice booking a FastPass+ reservation for this if you don’t want to miss out. This is also a great choice if you’re visiting with the family as you can ride together.
*Epcot is the park where you may have to make a more difficult choice as all of the rides in our top three are in the same category. This means that you can only book a FastPass+ for one. Make sure you check out all the options before booking.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is one of the newest rides at the Magic Kingdom, but also one of the most popular by far! It’s been a hit with guests ever since it opened, and its popularity shows no sign of slowing down. This is a great ride for families, as it’s a fun, starter coaster that everyone can enjoy together. If you’ve got little ones in your group, make sure you use FastPass+ for this ride, as queues can sometimes reach up to 2 hours long when the park is at its busiest!
Get ready to speed off into space on this iconic Disney ride. The journey starts with flashing lights all around you, before you ascend a 180-foot mountain and face a dramatic launch into the darkness. Feel your heart race as you zoom through the galaxy passing comets, meteors and shooting stars. Space Mountain is one of the park’s most popular rides, so if you want to give it a go (minus the queues!) we’d suggest making a FastPass+ reservation in advance.
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
This is a great starter coaster for the kids, that has just enough thrill factor to keep the whole family entertained. Get ready to race through the 200-foot-tall mountain, taking on plenty of dips, dives and drops on the way. The mines are rumoured to be haunted, so you can expect a few surprises too. If you’re visiting with little ones, opt to use your FastPass+ reservation for this instead of one of the bigger attractions.
Top Tip- If you’re visiting with little ones, you might want to consider using some of your FastPass+ reservations for character encounters or shows. As young children may be too small for some of the bigger rides, you can use your reservations for equally popular character meet and greet experiences, which will help them fill up their autograph book.
