3 New Events Coming to Walt Disney World This Month!
An old favourite and two brand new events!
The Walt Disney World Resort is about to become even more magical, with a host of new events…

Not one, not two, but three exciting new events are coming to the Walt Disney World Resort, and there’s not long to wait, as they all begin this month! New welcome show ‘Let the Magic Begin’ has just started, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts will be running for the first time ever, and Disney After Hours will make a grand return to delight guests. Here’s what you need to know…

Let the Magic Begin:

Let the Magic Begin Walt Disney World

One of our top tips for avoiding the queues at Walt Disney World is to arrive early, and now there’s even more reason to do so, with an enchanting new welcome show. ‘Let the Magic Begin’ debuted this week (on 9th January) and is the perfect way to start your day at the park. You’ll be able to enter the Magic Kingdom before the scheduled opening hours, in time to get a good spot in front of the Castle Forecourt Stage before the show starts. While you’re waiting, you can also explore Main Street USA, or get a nice hot drink and some breakfast from the Main Street Bakery. A Royal Herald will appear to let you know that a few special guests are on their way and the magic is about to begin! Check out the video below for a sneak peek of the show…

Epcot International Festival of the Arts:

Epcot International Festival of the Arts

Debuting on the 13th January, the Epcot International Festival of the Arts is something completely new. Spring will arrive early at Epcot, with this all-new festival that will combine “visual, culinary and performing arts for six colourful weekends”, until 20th February. New and impressive art will be unveiled each week, mouth-watering culinary creations will be available and music will be provided by the stars of Disney’s award-winning Broadway musicals.

Guests can discover the incredible talent behind the Disney magic, as they watch the creative process come to life at a series of hands-on workshops. You’ll even be able to pick up a few tips and tricks yourself at complimentary seminars, including animation drawing, calligraphy and even cake decorating! For something to eat, make sure you try some of the art-inspired tasty treats on offer. Each snack has a Disney twist and looks almost too good to eat.

Head to the America Gardens Theatre and prepare to be dazzled as the Disney on Broadway Concert Series takes to the stage to perform a collection of hits from Disney’s most popular movies. You’ll recognise songs from Aladdin, The Lion King and Newsies to name just a few. The American Music Machine will also be performing at the festival, a talented group known for their a capella riffs with a twist. Marching bands, jazz ensembles and some of Central Florida’s best high school choirs will also feature on the line-up.

Disney After Hours:

Disney After Hours Walt Disney World

Last year, Disney hosted ‘Disney After Hours’ for the first time, allowing guests to experience the Disney magic for even longer. The event was so popular, that it will be returning for a short time only, from January 20th. See the Magic Kingdom like never before, as you explore after-dark. A limited number of guests will be admitted, meaning you’ll have little to no waiting time for your favourite rides. Over 25 classic attractions will be open, including Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, It’s a Small World, Peter Pan’s Flight and the Haunted Mansion. Imagine how much scarier the rides will be in the dark!

It’s not just the attraction queues that will be shorter, you’ll be able to meet your favourite characters (and take plenty of pictures of course!) without a long wait. On top of this, each guest will receive free popcorn, a Mickey premium ice cream and select bottled beverages. You’ll need a separate ticket for the special event, that gives you park entry for 3 hours, either from 8pm-11pm, or 9pm-12am.
