Guests staying onsite at a Disney Resort Hotel can enjoy a whole host of amazing benefits like Extra Magic Hours, Disney’s FastPass+ and complimentary MagicBands to name a few. That’s not all though, there’s a whole host of fun things you can do that are completely FREE! Here are just a few of our favourites…
1. Sing along with Chip and Dale
After a busy day exploring Disney’s fantastic theme parks, head over to the Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort for a fun-filled evening at Chip ‘N Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long. Bring your autograph book along, as you’ll be able to get up close to the mischievous duo, before singing along to a host of classic songs led by a guitar-playing cowboy! You can even roast your own marshmallows around the campfire or purchase a s’mores kit for the ultimate campsite treat. Movies Under the Stars takes place straight afterwards so stick around and enjoy the show.
2. Movies Under the Stars
Did you know that all of the Disney Resort Hotel’s host regular night-time movie screenings which are completely free for those staying onsite? That’s right, you can watch your favourite movies ‘under the stars’ at a special outdoor screening. There's a huge screen so you won’t miss a second of the action. You’ll be able to enjoy a range of Disney classics like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and The Lion King, as well as new fan favourites like Frozen and Moana. Make sure you check the schedule when you arrive at your hotel, so that you don’t miss your favourite!
3. Hotel tours
If you’ve visited Walt Disney World several times, you might want to try something a bit different. Why not take part in a complimentary Resort tour during your stay for a sneak peek behind the scenes?
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Hotel, you can take a complimentary culinary tour of the Boma and Jiko restaurants. You’ll discover some of the hidden secrets and Imagineering details of these amazing restaurants, and best of all, you’ll even get to sample some of the mouth-watering food! If you want to get closer to nature, all you have to do is step outside and you’ll see beautiful animals roaming the savanna. Knowledgeable cast members are on hand to tell you all about them too.
Each day at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you can join in a one-hour tour of the hotel and learn all about it’s extraordinary design from the experts. Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort is another hotel that runs daily tours, and if you have the time, this is something that’s well worth doing. The hotel’s design is breath-taking, and an expert guide will show you around, sharing plenty of secrets along the way.
4. Watch the fireworks
A visit to Walt Disney World isn’t complete until you’ve seen at least one of the incredible fireworks displays! If you want to admire Disney’s newest firework spectacular- ‘Happily Ever After’, the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Resort will give you a picture-perfect view. You can also enjoy the show from either Disney’s Grand Floridian and Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The California Grill restaurant at the top of this hotel has an observation deck where you can admire the dazzling display as music from the show plays through the speakers around you.
If you’re staying along the Seven Seas Lagoon, you’ll also be able to watch the nightly Electrical Water Pageant free of charge.
Epcot’s ‘IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth’ is another fantastic show you should make time to see. If you’re staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort or Disney’s BoardWalk Resort, you won’t even have to leave your hotel!
5. Take a dip in the pool
The Disney Resort Hotels are famous for their fabulous theming and this includes their amazing swimming pools. When you’re not in the parks, make sure you spend some time making a splash in your hotel pool. You’ll have hours of fun and it won’t cost a thing! The ‘Big Blue’ pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort is one of our favourites. It’s the biggest pool out of all the Disney hotels and it has underwater speakers that play classic Disney songs!
Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts has a mini water park with an exhilarating 230-foot long water slide, Disney’s Pop Century Resort has a huge pool shaped like a bowling pin, and Disney’s All-Star Music Resort has a pool shaped like a piano. Most hotels also have pool games to keep the little ones entertained.
