1. Admire the beautiful displays
Like the name suggests, one of main features of this festival is the flowers. During the International Flower & Garden Festival, Epcot is totally transformed with colourful floral displays with more than 30-million blooms across the park!
It’s well worth taking the time to walk around the park admiring the different displays you can see along the way. There are also more than 100 spectacular topiaries, which are designed to look like iconic Disney characters. You’ll be able to spot Anna & Elsa, Beauty & the Beast, Mickey & Minnie, Captain Hook & Peter Pan, Lady & the Tramp, Pluto & Goofy and many more. Make sure you’ve got your camera at the ready and get ready to snap away!
2. Try the food
If you thought that Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival is just about flowers, you’d be wrong! There are so many amazing things to do during this special event and one of our favourites has to be sampling the amazing food. This year, there will be 17 outdoor kitchens located throughout the park, and these each have a menu full of culinary delights from around the world.
With so much to choose from it can be hard to know where to start. Some of the dishes we’ve got on our must-try list this year are potato pancakes with caramelised ham, onions and sour cream (Bauernmarkt: Farmer’s Market), sugar cane shrimp skewer with steamed rice and coconut-lime sauce (La Isla Fresca) and the mouth-watering shredded beef brisket with smoked potato and chorizo fondue (THE SMOKEHOUSE: Barbecue and Brews).
There are lots of sweet treats to enjoy too, like chocolate macaron lollipops, walnut honey baklava and Key Lime funnel cake topped with crumbled Graham cracker and whipped cream… delicious!
3. Dance the night away!
Another highlight of the International Flower & Garden Festival is the Garden Rocks Concert Series. Each night, famous music artists take to the stage to perform their most popular hits and admission to the concerts is completely free with your Epcot tickets. This year, there will be more than 270 concerts in total with Sister Sledge, The Spinners, Ambrosia, Night Ranger, Lonestar, Don Felder (formerly of The Eagles), Starship and many more on the line-up.
Make sure you head over to the American Gardens Theatre while you’re there and check out one of the amazing shows.
4. Explore the exhibits
As well as floral and topiary displays, there are lots of stunning exhibits and gardens that you must see. Visit the China Pavilion to see different colours, patterns and sizes of Bamboo in the Bamboo Garden, discover the impressive Bonsai Collection in the Japan Pavilion and find the herbs needed to create a delicious Italian feast in the Garden Italiano.
Make sure you check out the Floating Mini-Gardens too as this is one of our favourite exhibits. There’s more than 100 floating planters gliding along the east and west lakes of future world.
5. Find the perfect souvenir
During Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival you’ll be able to pick up some limited edition merchandise to add to your Disney souvenir collection. The new merchandise will be available for a limited time only, so is the perfect choice if you’re looking for something special. You’ll find clothing, accessories, drinkware and adorable spring-themed Minnie Mouse ears which are a staple for any Disney fan’s wardrobe.
