7 Things We Love About Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
and we think you will too!
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort offers guests the ultimate luxury stay. Here’s the 7 things we love most about it…

1. The pools

Grand Floridian Pools

The hotel's main pool- the Beach Pool, is designed to resemble natural springs, complete with rushing waterfalls. For those looking for adventure, it has a 181-foot-long waterslide that curves down a mini mountain, races past trees and slides under a walking bridge before plunging you into the pool with a huge splash! There’s a poolside bar for the grown-ups to enjoy too. For something more relaxing, head to the Courtyard Pool and take a dip in the whirlpool spa. Little ones will also love playing in the Alice in Wonderland-inspired splash area.

2. Victoria & Albert’s

This incredible restaurant doesn’t come cheap, but once you try the mouth-watering food, you’ll realise it’s worth every penny. If you’re visiting for a special occasion, this is the place to celebrate in style. Enjoy the ultimate fine dining experience as you make your way through 7 delicious courses. Choose from dishes like seared duck breast, Kobe-style beef and lamb loin, followed by something sweet for dessert like the tasty caramelized banana gateau.

Victoria and Albert's Restaurant Orlando

If you like wine, you won’t be disappointed, as there are over 700 different varieties to choose from! Victoria and Albert’s has been the recipient of the prestigious AAA Five Diamond Award each year since 2000, making this one of Walt Disney World’s standout restaurants. So, if you get the chance, you really should give it a try. Make sure you book in advance though, as this place is extremely popular.

3. The amazing views

Grand Floridian Fireworks

One of the most magical things about Disney’s Grand Floridian, is that you can end the evening with a spectacular view of the Magic Kingdom fireworks display! The hotel is located right on the Seven Seas Lagoon, which is the ideal viewing spot for the nightly show. Get there in time to watch as the night sky is filled with bursts of colour, and enjoy a display you’ll never forget.

Electrical Water Pageant Walt Disney World

That’s not all though! The dazzling Electrical Water Pageant can also be seen from the resort, as it takes place on the lagoon. A series of mythical sea creatures light up the lagoon, with the big green sea monster leading the way. As American flags light up, you’ll be treated to a medley of patriotic songs and Disney classics.

4. Easy access to the parks

Disney Monorail

The Magic Kingdom is the closest Disney theme park to the Grand Floridian. You’ll be able to travel there in a matter of minutes, as there is a Monorail stop conveniently located outside the hotel. Climb aboard and get ready to be whisked away to the magic! You can also travel via Monorail to Epcot with just one quick transfer, admiring stunning aerial views of the Walt Disney World Resort along the way.

Of course, you’ll also benefit from FREE Disney bus transportation, meaning you can travel to and from the parks hassle-free. This service begins 45 minutes before the parks open and ends 2 hours after park closing.

5. You can meet characters without leaving the hotel

Meet Disney characters at Grand Floridian

That’s right, at Disney’s Grand Floridian, you’ll be able to meet some of your favourite characters as soon as you wake up! You can start your day off at the 1900 Park Fare restaurant and enjoy a hearty breakfast alongside Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter, Tigger and Winnie the Pooh. You can even indulge in a delicious Afternoon Tea with a surprise appearance from Disney royalty! There is an additional cost for these character dining experiences, but it’s a nice way to make your holiday even more magical.

6. The seasonal celebrations

Disney’s Grand Floridian is known for going the extra mile when it comes to the holidays. At Easter, the lobby is filled with elaborate chocolate eggs created by the Grand Floridian pastry team. The incredible designs are more like works of art than Easter eggs, featuring stunning designs inspired by some of your favourite Disney characters.

Disney's Grand Floridian at Christmas

Christmas is another time of year when the Grand Floridian goes all out. If the stunning décor and glittering Christmas lights wasn’t impressive enough, wait until you see the star attraction. Every year, there is a life-size gingerbread house in the lobby, standing at 16-feet high and 17-feet wide! The mammoth creation is made from 1,050 pounds of honey, 800 pounds of flour and 700 pounds of chocolate. It takes more than 400 hours just to bake the gingerbread, let alone put it all together!  You can even snap a selfie or two with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who will be making surprise appearances, dressed in their fanciest festive attire.

7. The Spa

Grand Floridian Spa

After all that walking around the parks, you might be in need of a bit of relaxation. Well, you’re in luck, because Disney’s Grand Floridian is home to a world-class spa. ‘Senses’ is the perfect place to unwind, offering you a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the parks. There’s a vast range of treatments to choose from, including massages, facials, body wraps and aromatherapy. You’ll have to pay separately for your treatments, but will be left feeling refreshed, revitalised and ready to tackle the parks again afterwards.
