In the last few weeks, there have been lots of exciting Disney announcements. Bob Chapek (Chairman of Disney Parks Experiences and Consumer Products) has revealed details for two new Star Wars rides, new pictures of the Guardians of the Galaxy coaster and the opening date for the Disney Skyliner cable car service. But, that’s not all! Chapek made even more announcements of what the future holds for Disney’s Epcot at D23’s Destination D event, when he confirmed that FOUR new attractions will be opening at the park in the next few years.
Here’s what we know so far…
Ratatouille Ride Named
Back in July last year, Disney announced plans for an exciting new Ratatouille ride. The new attraction is of course inspired by the popular movie and will put guests right in the middle of an exhilarating kitchen chase where you’ll shrink down to the size of Remy. It will be located in Epcot’s France Pavilion and while there is no official opening date yet, Disney have just confirmed that the ride will be called ‘Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure’.
New Night-Time Show
You might have already heard that next summer, Epcot’s IllumiNations show will come to an end to make way for a brand new night-time spectacular. There have been very few details on what will replace IllumiNations, until now! Bob Chapek revealed that the new show will debut in 2020 and will celebrate how Disney music has inspired people all over the world. He shared an image of the artwork for the new show (main image) and said that there will be lights, lasers, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, huge floating set pieces and plenty of pyrotechnics. This is sure to be the new must-see show at Walt Disney World, so make sure it’s at the top of your list.
Epcot Forever
Disney have already promised that there will be no gap in the night-time entertainment at Epcot, so when IllumiNations finishes next summer, a brand new show will begin right away. ‘Epcot Forever’ will be running for a limited time only, so if you’re visiting while it’s on, you really should check it out. The dazzling show will feature classic Epcot tunes, lights, lasers and even special effects kites! Disney have also revealed that the show will have an impressive start “with a spark of imagination that swells into an epic spectacle of fireworks”! We can't wait to see it.
Beauty & the Beast Sing-Along
Beauty and the Beast fans will be excited to hear that a new attraction inspired by the classic story, is coming to Epcot. The new sing-along experience is being created by Don Hahn, who is the producer of both the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films. You’ll be able to find it in the France Pavilion in the World Showcase.
