There are so many amazing hotels at Walt Disney World, with great restaurants, arcades, shops, spa facilities, movie screenings and so much more. One of our favourite things about the Disney Resort Hotels though, has to be the pools. Not only are the Disney pools perfect for when you want to laze the day away, they’re also so much fun! Here are just 5 of our favourites…
1. Stormalong Bay
This isn’t your typical swimming pool, in fact, it’s 3-acres of water park fun! Little ones will be kept entertained for hours, making a splash in the sand-bottomed pool and exploring the life-sized shipwreck replica. There’s also an amazing 230-foot-long water slide that zooms out of the wreck. This is one of the highest water slides at the Walt Disney World Resort and is one that the kids and big kids are guaranteed to love!
If you’re looking for something a bit more relaxing, grab a tube and soak up the sunshine as you float along the lazy river, or unwind in one of the three whirlpool spas. There’s also a sandy beach where you can sit back and relax if you don’t want to take a dip.
Stormalong Bay is part of Disney’s Beach and Yacht Club Resorts. If you’re visiting the pool area, you’ll find yourself conveniently close to the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop. Head here when you’re hungry for an ice cream break.
2. The Big Blue Pool
The Big Blue is the largest hotel pool at Walt Disney World, with more than 308,527 gallons of water! The pool is inspired by the Disney Pixar classic Finding Nemo and is surrounded by giant figures of Nemo, Crush and the rest of the gang. While the colourful pool area looks incredible, it’s what’s under the water that we like best!
The Big Blue pool has speakers underneath the water, so when you go for a swim, you’ll be able to hear the voices of your favourites characters, as well as some classic Disney songs! As Dory would say “just keep swimming” and you’ll discover lots of Disney surprises.
You can also pick up snacks and refreshing drinks from the Drop Off pool bar which is right nearby.
3. Lava Pool
The Lava Pool area at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was given a makeover in 2015 and is now better than ever. The standout feature of this pool is the impressive volcano, which has a 142-foot-long water slide running straight through the middle!
That’s not all though, there’s a splash play area called Kiki Tikis that the little ones will love. There’s also a zero-depth entry point which means it’s easy and safe for little ones to get into the pool and have some fun.
Adults can enjoy spending some time in the relaxing hot tub, which gives you stunning views over the Seven Seas Lagoon and at night, you can even see the Magic Kingdom fireworks!
4. Fuentes del Morro Pool
This incredible pool is designed to look like a colonial Spanish fortress and it really is picture perfect. There’s not just one, but two amazing water slides to choose from, including one that is 102-feet-long! If you want to have a bit of friendly competition with the family, there are several water cannons, so you can take aim and give each other a serious soaking!
There’s also a shipwreck play area for younger children with miniature water slides that ensure no one is left out of the fun. If the grown-ups aren’t too busy racing down the water slide, there’s also a 12-person spa pool and a pool bar serving tropical drinks.
5. Uzima Springs Pool
You’ll find the Uzima Springs Pool at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge- an 11,000-square-foot tropical oasis that faces the fascinating Uzima Savanna. The pool is surrounded by large canopy trees and Floridian palms. One of the things we love most about it, is that you can actually see some of the beautiful animals from the pool area- including flamingos!
But, if that wasn’t enough to get you excited, there’s also a 67-foot-long water slide to keep you entertained. There are also several hot tubs hidden away under the canopy trees, which offer the perfect place to unwind after a long day of theme park fun.
