If you’re a Disney superfan you might already know that in the next few years, Epcot will be undergoing a huge transformation. Disney recently shared more exciting news on what the multi-year transformation will involve, and it sounds incredible.
One of the main parts of the makeover, is the addition of a brand new pavilion. Disney have promised that the new ‘play pavilion’ will be unlike anything you’ve ever seen at the park. The new area will be all about fun, giving guests of all ages the chance to enjoy something totally unique. The play pavilion will feature an innovative city that will come to life under the dome of the currently un-named pavilion which was previously known as Wonders of Life.
The city will have plenty of interactive experiences to keep you entertained, as well as hands-on activities and lots of character encounters. While there isn’t an exact opening date just yet, the pavilion will be open in time for the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort in 2021.
Zach Riddley (Portfolio Executive, Walt Disney Imagineering) explained, “This innovative, new pavilion is beyond anything we’ve ever created and is completely unique to Epcot. Built on the power of play, it introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favourite Disney characters. This is an experience worthy of our bold vision for Epcot – and another signature element of our transformation.”
But that’s not all that’s in store. Epcot’s main entrance will also be getting a makeover. The plaza will welcome guests with new pathways, stunning new green spaces and a reimagined fountain. The new design will pay homage to the original park entrance with some fresh takes on classic design elements.
If you want to find out even more about Epcot’s future projects, you’ll soon be able to head over to a new Experience Center which will be opening at Epcot later this year. The Experience Center will be located in the Odyssey Events Pavilion and will feature interactive exhibits to help you visualise the park’s future projects.
Of course, these aren’t the only changes that will be happening at Epcot in the next few years. Disney have already revealed that not just one, but two amazing new rides will be opening at the park before 2021. Fans will get the chance to experience new rides inspired by Ratatouille and the Guardians of the Galaxy.
