On 27th May, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will officially open its exciting new land- Pandora The World of Avatar! The 12-acre area will be an immersive world inspired by the popular 2009 movie Avatar, and has been designed to make guests feel as though they really are exploring Pandora. The incredible theming will run throughout the entire area, complete with floating mountains, action-packed attractions and themed restaurants.
Yesterday, Disney confirmed that they would be using a ‘Mobile Order’ service throughout the land, starting with the Satu’li Canteen on 27th May. This means, that you will be able to order tasty dishes from the restaurant’s menu on your phone, through the free My Disney Experience App. You’ll also be able to customise your order, and pre-pay for meals on the go. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to the Satu’li Canteen and simply tap the “I’m here” button on the app. The kitchen will then start preparing your meal, and before you know it, your food will be ready to collect at a designated Mobile Order window!

The Satu’li Canteen is a colourful museum-like dining room, with beautiful hand-woven tapestries and Na’vi artefacts adorning the walls. The restaurant will offer creative, flavoursome dishes with lots of healthy options too. For something a bit different, try the ‘Steamed Pods’. This tasty dish consists of bao buns with either a cheeseburger or vegetable curry filling, served with root vegetables, crisps and crunchy coleslaw on the side.
We like the look of the desserts too! The ‘Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse’ has been inspired by the Na’vi people. You’ll notice that their blue skin and bright yellow eyes are reflected in this delicious dessert. You’ll also be able to taste creamy white chocolate and sweet passion fruit. Make sure you put this restaurant at the top of your ‘must-try’ list.
While the Satu’li Canteen will be the only restaurant in the park to use ‘Mobile Order’ for now, it will be expanding to Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbeque and Restaurantosaurus during the summer. Disney have also confirmed plans to introduce ‘Mobile Order’ to more quick service locations at the Walt Disney World Resort in the future.
Once you’ve eaten, stop by Pongu Pongu to quench your thirst. Meaning “party, party” in the language of the Na’vi, this quirky drink stand is run by a friendly expat who fell in love with Pandora. There’s a whole range of unique drinks to try, including bioluminescent frozen cocktails!
Make sure you check out the exciting attractions too. Navi’ River Journey takes you along a sacred river into the depths of a bioluminescent rainforest, where you’ll meet a singing Na’vi Shaman. If you’re seeking adventure, Avatar Flight of Passage lets you soar above Pandora on the back of a banshee!
