Star Wars fans have been eagerly waiting to hear more details on Disney’s new Star Wars expansion, and over the weekend, at the Star Wars: Galactic Nights panel, the Imagineers working on the exciting project shared some brand new pictures and details of what’s to come!
The team explained how authenticity is at the heart of the project, with so much hard work going into making sure everything is as realistic and true to the movies as possible. It’s because of this, that when you finally step foot inside the land, you’ll be fully immersed into the Star Wars galaxy.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will officially open in 2019, and will be Disney’s largest ever single-themed expansion, spanning over an impressive 14-acres. Disney had previously announced that the main attraction would be inspired by the iconic Millennium Falcon space craft. The Imagineers revealed some new details at the panel, explaining how guests would experience the attraction. It will begin when you climb through the hatch, where you’ll then get to walk through the corridors to the cockpit. This is where the best bit happens- you’ll be able to power the space craft up and actually fly it for yourself! That’s right, you’re completely in charge.
Here’s what the inside is going to look like…
The team are also building a fleet of full-size X-wing starfighters! You’ll be able to get up close to these huge space crafts when you visit. Make sure you bring your camera along to capture the moment!
That’s not all though. Disney also revealed a bit more about the in-depth stories you’ll discover when you explore this remote outpost. There will be a bustling marketplace with a collection of unique shops and market stalls. One of these will be overseen by a Toydarian. This unusual creature first featured in “Star Wars: The Phantom Menace”, so you might just recognise him.
What does he sell though? Toys of course, and lots of them! You’ll be able to pick up fascinating toys that are all designed to appear as though they have been handcrafted by local artisans. They’ll be exclusive to this outpost, so you’ll get the chance to take an original souvenir back home with you.
If you can’t wait until 2019, there are already plenty of amazing Star Wars attractions to keep you entertained at Disney’s Hollywood Studios park, like character meet and greets, a Jedi training camp, Star Tours- The Adventures Continue and much more.
