Epcot’s annual International Food and Wine Festival is back, and if you’re visiting Walt Disney World before the 12th November, you really should pay a visit! This incredible festival is all about fantastic food, fine wine and great music. Here’s what you need to know…
This year’s festival is running every single day until 12th November at Disney’s Epcot park. With refreshing wines and craft beer for the grown-ups, exciting scavenger hunts for the kids and lots of amazing food, there’s something for everyone. As you explore the World Showcase area of the park, you’ll find a series of pop-up kiosks serving delicious food from all over the world. Make sure you visit on an empty stomach because this year, there are 35 marketplaces to choose from!
Here are just a few of the dishes on the mouth-watering menu:
Spain- A this marketplace you’ll find tasty charcuterie in a cone with imported Spanish meats, cheeses and olives. You can also try Spanish-style paella with roasted chicken and chorizo, or a seafood salad with shrimp, scallops and mussels.
Thailand- This marketplace offers food that’s full of flavour! If you like spicy food, the red-hot spicy Thai beef curry is definitely for you. For something milder but equally delicious, go for the marinated chicken with peanut sauce and stir-fried vegetables. Make sure you try the Singha lager while you’re there.
Greece- We’d recommend the loaded Greek nachos, covered with meatless sausage crumbles and tzatziki. Or, if you want to try it all, the ‘Taste of Greece’ platter lets you sample chicken souvlaki, lamb sausage and warm pitta with a feta cheese dip.
France- This is one of our favourite kiosks at the Food & Wine Festival. This year’s menu features a beer-braised beef dish, with bacon, onions and mashed potato, and for dessert there’s crème brûlée. When the sun is shining, there’s no better way to cool down than with the Passion Martini Slush. Trust us when we say, you’ll definitely be going back for more!
Of course, that’s not all. You’ll also be able to try traditional dishes from Africa, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico and more!
Once you’ve tried the incredible food, head over to the America Gardens Theatre. This is the place where you’ll be able to watch world-famous artists perform live in the Eat to the Beat Concert Series. The good news is, this is included with your Disney tickets! This year’s line-up includes Billy Ocean, Boyz II Men, Sugar Ray, Tiffany, Smash Mouth and Hanson to name just a few.
If you’re a serious foodie, you can attend special culinary demonstrations, food tasting workshops and seminars to brush up on your kitchen skills. You’ll have to pay extra to attend these special events, but if you love to cook, these are definitely worth the money. We’d recommend booking in advance if you want to join in, as these are extremely popular with guests.
While this special event is always a hit with the adults, there’s also lots to keep the little ones entertained. Children can take part in a Ratatouille-inspired scavenger hunt, make their very own candy sushi and join in a dance party with a host of classic Disney characters.
