The Orlando theme parks are amazing all year round, but they really come to life during the holidays. Here’s our guide to the best things to do at Easter at the Walt Disney World Resort…
Meet Mr and Mrs Bunny:
Every year, Mr and Mrs Bunny head to Walt Disney World to celebrate Easter. They always come dressed for the occasion, in their finest pastel-coloured attire, with Mr Bunny even donning a top hat. If you’re visiting Disney’s Magic Kingdom park, you’ll be able to meet them at Bunny Lane Garden, where they’ll be happy to take photos and sign souvenir Easter autograph cards- a great keepsake! This is a fun opportunity to meet some characters you wouldn’t usually get to see at the park.
See Some Epic Easter Eggs:
If you want to see the most incredible display of Easter eggs in eggs-istence, Disney’s Grand Floridian Hotel is the place to go! The intricately decorated eggs are all inspired by Disney movies and their beloved characters. While these definitely look too good to eat, they are all made from real chocolate with edible decorations including chocolate fondant, coloured cocoa butter and sculpted sugar art pieces. Each design takes about 3 weeks to complete, with the eggs weighing between 9-12 pounds and standing between 16-20 inches tall!
Previous years have seen Tangled, Frozen and Star Wars themed creations, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store this year.
Take Part in an Easter Egg Hunt:
If you’re visiting Disney’s Epcot during the Easter season, make sure you take part in the ‘Egg-Stravaganza Easter Egg Hunt’- it’s a must do! The annual event is great fun for the little ones and something that the whole family can enjoy together. Maps can be purchased for $5.99 (at Pin Central- Future World, Disney Traders or World Traveler), and come with stickers that give you clues as to what to look out for. It’s your job to find incredible Disney themed Easter eggs that have been hidden across the park. We’ll give you a clue…there’s something to be found in each country of the World Showcase.
Try Some Sweet Treats:
During Easter, there are always plenty of tasty goodies to try at the parks. If you’re visiting, make sure you give them a try, as the delicious Easter themed snacks are available for a limited time only. There are lots of Easter cupcakes you can pick up throughout the parks, but our favourite has to be the creamy white chocolate rabbit cupcake that’s available at the Cheshire Café.
Attend a Service:
If you usually attend an Easter Sunday service, there’s no need to miss out just because you’re in Orlando. Disney’s Contemporary Resort holds religious services on Easter morning in the Fantasia Ballroom. Times slightly vary, but there are usually up to 3 services on the day. The quickest way to get here is by using the Disney Monorail (if you’re staying at select Disney hotels), or to get a shuttle bus from the Magic Kingdom.
