November 18th marked the 90th anniversary of Mickey Mouse, but an occasion so big needs much more than just one day to celebrate. That’s why Disney are continuing the celebrations well into next year! At the recent ‘D23’s Destination D: Celebrating Mickey Mouse’ event, Bob Chapek (Chairman of Disney Parks Experiences and Consumer Products) shared details for some exciting new attractions that will be launching at Walt Disney World in 2019 to celebrate the legendary mouse. Wonderful World of Animation
An incredible new night-time show called ‘Wonderful World of Animation’ is set to open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. There’s not long to wait before you can see it for yourself either, as it will start in May 2019 as part of the park’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
The show will use state-of-the-art projection technology to take guests on a magical adventure through more than 90 years of classic Disney animation, starting right at the beginning with Mickey Mouse.
If you take a look at the artist rendering, you’ll spot some other characters that will be making an appearance in the show like the Incredibles, Elsa, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel and Ralph & Vanellope.

Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration
This huge celebration in honour of Mickey’s birthday, will take place at the Magic Kingdom park. Guests will be able to celebrate Mickey and Minnie, with a host of new entertainment, merchandise and specialty food and drink.
Of course, that’s not all. One of the things we’re most looking forward to is the new Mickey and Minnie meet and greet experience. You’ll be able to meet the famous Disney duo dressed in their brand new colourful celebration outfits. You’ll also be able to sign a special guestbook while you’re there and leave a birthday message.
The new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party” is set to be one of the highlights of the event, with a brand new song called “It’s a Good Time”. So, brush up on your best dance moves and get ready to join in the fun with your favourite characters at this lively street party.
Mickey’s beloved dog Pluto will also be meeting guests at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
It’s been a long time coming, but next year will see the first ever Mickey Mouse-themed ride open at Walt Disney World! The new attraction will be opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and while there’s no official opening date yet, we’re hoping it will be unveiled in time for the park’s 30th anniversary.
This ground-breaking attraction will be unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Disney are using an impressive new technology which they’ve dubbed “2 ½ D” to bring a Mickey Mouse cartoon short to life. You’ll be fully immersed into the “wacky and unpredictable” world of the famous Mouse, but in this cartoon, you’re the star of the show. Disney have described the attraction as a “zany out-of-control adventure” that features “surprising twists and turns, dazzling visual effects and mind-boggling transformations that happen before your very eyes”. Look out for an appearance from Goofy along the way too!
