If you’ve got an upcoming trip to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida planned, you’ll want to read this. So much has opened recently in the Park - including the much-awaited Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge - and there’s loads more attractions set to debut next year too. Let’s have a look at what you can enjoy:
This experience opened in Disney Springs on August 12, allowing fans to experience what it’s like to live the life of the NBA and WNBA players. Family-friendly fun is given a slam-dunk twist in this attraction, featuring 13 basketball-related activities, a retail store and a restaurant (due to open soon) as well.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
The biggie, and the one that film fans around the globe have no doubt been waiting for. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge finally opened on August 29, with its first attraction Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run already proving popular. The second attraction (Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance) is due to open later this year on December 5. There’s also plenty of places to get your food fix too, including Oga’s Cantina, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, and the famous Milk Stand where you can try that Blue Milk and Green Milk. This is bucket-list, once-in-a-lifetime experience that is truly mesmerizing and fully immersive.
Sadly, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth will be taking its final bow on September 30, but don’t fear - Epcot Forever will be opening the very next day! This is a limited time spectacular, which features fireworks, stunning laser effects and choreographed kites set to theme park favourite music.
And, following Epcot Forever, another new nighttime spectacular will be taking its place in 2020. This show will celebrate how Disney music inspired people all over the world, featuring massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers.
This brand new gondola system will connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four hotels - Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Carribean Beach Resort, and the future Disney’s Riviera Resort. Called Disney Skyliner, riders will glide among the treetops in state-of-the-art gondolas.
Disney’s Riviera Resort
This new resort is set to open December 16 - so you’ve not got long to wait! The hotel will celebrate all the grandeur of Europe, and guests can stay in either cozy Tower Studios, spacious 1-Bedroom Villas, 2-Bedroom Villas and 3-Bedroom Villas.
City Works Eatery and Pour House
We welcome any news of a new restaurant at Disney, and this place looks amazing! Diners can rediscover American cuisine with a selection of craft brews too. This is in Disney Springs, described as an “upbeat restaurant meets ultimate sports bar”.
Another new place to eat - yay! We’re taking to space for this next restaurant, which is located in Future World in Epcot and is called Space 220. This is set to open as soon as late 2019, and diners will enjoy out of this world dining with daytime and nighttime views of Earth from 220 miles up.
Walt Disney Imagineering presentes the Epcot Experience
Stay up to date with the changes taking place at Epcot over the next few years, with this new attraction which features interactive and engaging exhibits about the upcoming development. This is located in the Odyssey Events Pavilion, and guest will be able to get a first-hand look at what Epcot will become in the future.
“Beauty and the Beast” sing-along
Everyone loves a sing-along, and this newest one has been created by Don Hahn - the person behind the animated and live-action “Beauty and the Beast” films! A fun activity for all the family, opening in the France Pavilion of Epcot in January 2020.
O Canada! Update
O Canada! is getting a nice little makeover in the Canada Pavilion at Epcot, transforming into an updated film called Canada Far and Wide in Circle-Vision 360 in January 2020.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Set be another popular attraction, this ride is Disney’s Hollywood Studios is actually the first attraction at any Disney Park that star Mickey Mouse and friends. Guests will zip away on a zany adventure through a surprise-filled animated universe. Planned to open spring 2020.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ Restaurant
Sticking with Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’re now hopping over to Toy Story Land for this next new restaurant. Diners will be made to feel like they’re the size of a toy, surrounded by playsets, toys, and a new rodeo play area. This is a table service restaurant, suitable for all the family.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
This trackless dark ride is suitable for all members of the family, and is opening in the France Pavilion in Epcot. Shrink down to the size of Remy and cause havoc in the restaurant! Opening summer 2020.
Le Crêperie de Paris
This restaurant is also opening summer 2020 in the France Pavilion, and will offer both table- and quick-service options from a menu from celebrity chef Jerome Bocuse.
Staying in Epcot, we’re flying over to the Land Pavilion for this new film, which showcases the diversity, beauty and dynamic story of the planet. Debuting January 2020.
Cirque du Soleil
Everyone’s favourite wondrous entertainment is finally coming to Disney! Cirque du Soleil opens in Disney Springs in spring 2020, and is inspired by Disney animation, mixed with the thrilling spectacle of Cirque.
