This morning, Disney Chairman and CEO Robert A. Iger made a HUGE announcement alongside the French President Emmanuel Macron, about the future of Disneyland Paris. He revealed plans for an exciting 2 billion-euro, multi-year expansion for the Disneyland Paris Resort, that will see the introduction of brand new lands, attractions and experiences that guests are sure to love.
The new development will include an incredible transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park, with not just one, but three new lands set to open. There will be three immersive, themed areas based on Marvel, Star Wars and Frozen, with a host of new attractions and live entertainment experiences too! Disney will build a new lake, which will connect all three areas together and act as a focal point for the entertainment experiences. Disney haven’t revealed any further details about what will feature in the lands, but if you look closely at the artist concept it looks like you’ll be able to explore the Star Wars Galaxy and get up close to Queen Elsa’s ice palace.
This expansion will be one of the most ambitious development projects at Disneyland Paris since its opening back in 1992. It will give visitors even more opportunity to experience the Disney magic, as more iconic Disney stories come to life in the park. Robert A. Iger explained “the transformative expansion we announced today will add even more of our beloved characters and unparalleled storytelling to create new lands, attractions and entertainment that further elevate the guest experience”. We can’t wait to see what it’s going to be like!
The multi-year development will roll out in phases beginning in 2021 and will significantly expand the Walt Disney Studios Park. Earlier this month, Disney announced plans to give the famous Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster ride a Marvel makeover, and this will of course become part of the new Marvel themed land that was confirmed today.
