    Default Aer Lingus experiences

Been looking at flights and noticed Aer Lingus fly via Dublin to MCO. Also intersted to note that according to their website they offer wifi throught the aircraft and also power points even in Economy.
I had a look through other posts re: Aer Lingus but wondering if anyone has any recent transatlantic experience with them.

Never flown with them but have heard that they have a US Immigration point at Dublin which means you don't have the big queue at Orlando Airport.

Yeah ive heard about this but heard conflicting reports about if/when it is in effect. Sometines yes, sometimes no. However would be great if it was the case.

I just assumed it was always in effect? Shame if it wasn't as it sounds a brilliant idea. Wish they would do it at Gatwick.

We've done that route at least twice, and cleared customs/imigration in Dublin. Very easy (once you get past the surley attendants and the cramped waiting area). We save hundreds of $$ going that route, and it's really no hardship at all.

Thanks for the input Susan. Hopefully they will have availibility next Easter. Like the idea of WiFi on the plane. No hassle going via Dublin rather than via LGW. At the end of the day its a connection but at least with Dublin you are heading in the right direction for your connection - i.e West!

I flew Aer Lingus a number of years back, albeit a short hop, and found them as good as other airlines. I have to say the idea of clearing immigration this end is very appealing and in your case DM where you have to get to the airport from where you live, if the price was comparable I think I'd plump for Dublin.

As Catlady notes, shame they don't do immigration at Manchester.

So is the immigration at Dublin run by the American border staff or by Irish border staff on behalf of the USA? As you say shame its not at other airports would make life really easy when getting to the other side.
