I'll start off then, we stayed both times in this villa in Sunridge Woods which is near Champions Gate south of Disney. If you go to maps.google.com and past this into the search box you'll see the villa.

    Sunridge Woods Blvd @28.240614, -81.596467

It was great for us, far enough out that there were locals living on the same street, yet close enough not to be a drag at the end of the day. Also when we went down to BGT we were already south of the main Orlando traffic.

Unfortunately it has been sold by the owner now, so I'll have to try somewhere new next time.
5 Trips to Florida, Christmas in LA, Disneyland Paris twice and odd days here and there.

All my trip reports are now HERE.

    1. First time in Orlando we stayed in Loma Linda Estate down the Ronald Reagan Parkway.
Takes about 25 minutes to reach Disney maingate either down Old Lake Wilson Road or via Champions Gate to the I4.
Older villas, quite a few occupied by US residents, there is a fair bit of space around each villa so you don't feel hemmed in.
3 bedroomed villa cost us around 400 a week.

    2. Stayed next on Briar Grove just down the road from Loma Linda so access to Disney the same as are the villas and price. We stayed at this particular villa a number of times. Price again about 400 a week.

    3. Lindfields Estate on the 192 west of Disney. Good for access to Disney if 192 isn't too busy.
Again these villas have been built a number of years ago but nice estate. Only down side was we were fleeced by the owner who tried to keep our security deposit by saying we had spilt sun oil in the pool and blocked the filter! Took a threat of small claims court to get our money back but left a sour taste at the end of the holiday.
Now I always take photos and video of the pool the day we leave to prove we leave it spotless.

    4. Next time needed a large villa so rented a 6bedroom 2storey one on Formosa Gardens. These are the nearest to Disney with easy access to shops, restaurants on the 192.
Beautiful villa, well appointed think it cost us around 650 a week in 2002

    5. This time needed a 5 bedroomed villa so found one online at Calabay Parc on highway 27.
These were more recently built. Probably a bit further out on the 27 but more supermarkets and restaurants are going up all the time.

we stayed in the larger one, very nice.

    6. Last year we only needed a smaller villa so found one just down the road from Calabay Parc at Highlands Reserve. This is a beautiful well appointed villa with free internet access and free phone calls home....very handy.http://highlandsreserveholiday.com/default.aspx
We are returning to this one this year.

    Default Southern Dunes

First year we stayed in a villa (2002) we did a AOA and ended up at Southern Dunes. The property, a house, was really very nice and was located backing on to the golf course. All the facilities where excellent and aprt from a leaking a/c unit (which was quickly fixed) everything was great.

The downside was the location. From the door of the villa to the World Drive/US192 junction took 29.5 minutes, so everyday was a real pain driving up to the attractions/restaurants and driving back in the evening. It also limited the desire to return mid-day to rest/swim etc.

All in all not a great place IMHO.

we have stayed on the Linfields estate twice now we found our villa privately through friends who own one they are slightly older in this area but the villa we stayed in is wonderful and clean reasonably priced as well .It is really well placed for the parks about 15 mins to animal kingdom lots of local places to eat wallmart and publix 10 min away .We have stayed there in august and have never had a problem with traffic but then we are used to traffic in area(Southend Es*** ,M25 etc)so the I4 and 192 seem pretty quiet.

We're staying in White Oaks Circle. I can post a link to the villa - which looks extremely tasty. It is costing us 780 for 10 days - and includes the pool heating, and free wireless internet and local/international calls.

It will be interesting to see whether it lives up to its reputation ...
