Baby Giraffe Born at Busch Gardens

Baby Giraffe Born at Busch Gardens
Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay has reported the recent birth of a baby female reticulated giraffe, born on December 27th.

The new member of the Busch Gardens family is the fifth calf produced by her mother, Tesa, and brings the park up to a total of 18 giraffes. The baby was 57 kilograms and 5 foot 7 inches at birth.  If you’re thinking of snapping up some Orlando tickets for the park to see the pair you’ll have to wait a while; as mother and baby are currently being monitored, eventually joining the other animals on the Serengeti Plain in about three months.

The birth is great news for the park and another sign of just how successful the long term Busch Gardens breeding program is.
