Brits reveal their favourite theme parks and attractions in The Orlando Awards 2014

The most popular Orlando theme parks, rides and attractions for 2014 have been revealed by Attraction Tickets Direct, as the winners of its Orlando Awards 2014 are announced. Attraction Tickets Direct is the UK’s number one ticket provider and its 250,000 customers joined forces with readers of The Sun newspaper to cast their vote and show how they have most enjoyed their time in Orlando this year.

The most coveted award for ‘Best Theme Park in Florida’ was won for the first time in several years by Disney’s Magic Kingdom – taking the crown from perennial favourite, Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

Far from being left behind, Universal’s The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, which expanded earlier this year, was voted far and away the ‘Best New Attraction’ with more than 50% of the votes, while Transformers: The Ride-3D at Universal Studios Florida was second with almost 20% of votes.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon was voted ‘Favourite Water Park’ while the Kennedy Space Centre was the Best Non-Theme Park Attraction.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Mickey Mouse was named as the Favourite Theme Park Character with more than 30% of the votes, with the Minions at Universal Studios Florida as runner-up.
