There’s always been an age gap between the Disney princess and younger audiences though, a gap that Disney’s about to fill. This week brings the announcement of a new Disney princess, “Sofia the First,” who will star in a special series of her own aimed at children aged 3-5. The hope is that this new star will spawn another key Disney market, with youngsters being able to experience everything from toys to meeting the princess in real life with Disneyland tickets. The general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide commented on the new launch saying that the show will aim to teach viewers that “what makes a real princess is what’s inside, not what’s outside.”
