The green fingered amongst us will be particularly excited to know that is only a matter of weeks till the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival kicks off at Walt Disney’s Epcot. We shared with you all the horticultural details of the event in an older post, which you can read here, but now we’d like to share with you some fun and flowery facts that have helped to cultivate Epcot’s 19th International Flower and Garden Festival!
- All guests will be greeted by an immense, eight foot tall Sorcerer Mickey topiary, conjuring up a floral scene inspired by Disney’s Fantasia. Perfectly manicured floral topiary buckets and broomsticks, hippos, alligators and elephants will help make up the Fantasia landscape.
- Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival lasts a total of 75 days, requires an entire year of planning and more than 400 Walt Disney World horticulturists to prepare the event.
- The festival features thirty million flowers, 240 miniature gardens float on two ponds, 30 flower towers and 700 container gardens of vegetables, plants, herbs and flowers will fill the 260 Epcot theme park with brilliant colour, creative and complex design and dozens of Disney characters in miraculous flower form.
You don’t need to have green fingers to appreciate the beauty and effort of Epcot’s International Flower and Garden Festival. You’ve got 75 whole days to witness this marvel, so it’s not too late to get those Disney Tickets.
