Las Vegas is a place where dreams come true and once in a lifetime experiences happen. With so many things to do in Las Vegas it can be difficult to settle on an itinerary but what we may suggest is to make the most of the things that you could only do in Vegas.
From driving like a top NASCAR driver to getting a cupcake treat from an ATM, Vegas is full of weird and wonderful things to do. Here we list some of the best Vegas attractions that you could never fit into a day anywhere else.
Drive like Petty
If it has always been your dream to be a top racing driver, Vegas is the place to see this realised. The Richard Petty Driving Experience means that you can learn to drive like the man himself. Nicknamed The King, the former NASCAR driver has a record 200 winning titles under his belt and is considered the most successful driver in the history of the sport, and now you can attempt to follow in his footsteps.
Choose from a range of driving experiences where you can either take the wheel yourself or let someone else do the hard work while you sit back and enjoy the thrill!
Held at the famed Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which also hosts the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and NASCAR Nationwide series, the legendary track makes for the perfect setting to enjoy some high-powered action. Offering complimentary round-trip transportation from the Las Vegas Strip when you book a reserved experience, it’s easy to enjoy too. Choose from the ride-along experience, Rookie experience, Las Vegas Sunday drive, Las Vegas summer Wednesday drive, Las Vegas Indycar experience, Kings experience, Experience of a lifetime or the Racing experience, which all range from three to 50 laps!
Eat cupcakes from an ATM
Only in Vegas could you go from driving like a NASCAR pro to eating a delicious cupcake without even having stepped foot in a bakery! Celebrated cupcake chain Sprinkles has achieved a world first in creating the Cupcake ATM, an automat that dispenses freshly baked cupcakes 24/7, many even sell Doggie cupcakes, complete with sugar-free yoghurt frosting. Their Las Vegas ATM has been open since March 2014 and is located on their bakery’s patio at 3545 south Las Vegas Boulevard.
The idea for the first cupcake ATM, which opened in Beverley Hills, California in March 2012, came from late-night pregnancy sugar cravings, as Sprinkles’ founder Candace Nelson explains, “Even as Sprinkles’ founder, I couldn’t get my midnight cupcake fix! I thought ‘there has to be a way’ and so the concept of the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM was born!”
The below video shows Candace explaining how the ATM works, delivering cupcakes to those who need them, when they need them.
Be a Coyote
Yes, the original Coyote Ugly Saloon, a name made famous by the 2000 film starring Piper Perabo and Tyra Banks, opened in New York in 1993, but the second establishment actually opened in Vegas. Now regarded as the most famous bar on the planet where Coyotes are known to breathe fire and dance on tables, the Las Vegas venue is nearly as famous as its New York sister. With happy hour held daily between 6 and 9pm and plenty of events regularly held at the venue, you could fulfil a lifelong ambition by going to experience what it’s like to be a real life Coyote!
Make friends with zombies
From Coyotes to zombies, Vegas has it all. The Zombie Apocalypse Store in Las Vegas is hugely popular and has everything you need to survive, well, a zombie apocalypse. While not actually believing in zombies as such the store believes in the metaphor of zombies, whether that be earthquakes, tsunamis or the government and has everything you need to stay safe in what they call a perfect blend of fun and function.
They regularly host events that offer self-defence training and stock everything from self-defence products to survival food and supplies.
Fly over a desert
Yes that’s right, fly over a desert. Flightlinez Bootleg Canyon give visitors the chance to cover 1.5 miles of desert at 60 mph+ over the Mojave Desert. Just a half hour away from the Strip it is reputed as one of the best and most adrenaline-fuelled things to do in Las Vegas. The whole experience lasts around three hours and means that you can actually say you’ve flown over the canyon. While not quite the distance of the Grand Canyon, it is considerably closer to the hustle and bustle of Vegas and means you will have more time to fit in these other amazing things that could only happen in Vegas.
Should you wish to really fly over the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas helicopter tours of the Grand Canyon are available to round off the experience.
Eat frozen custard
We’ve all heard of frozen yoghurt, but frozen custard?! Only in Vegas could you find yourself trying such a concoction after a day’s racing, flying, bar dancing, zombie chasing and cupcake eating.
Luv-It Frozen Custard is a family-owned business that has been open in Las Vegas since 1973 and treating locals and visitors alike to their delicious custardy flavours. Based at 505 E Oakley Boulevard, they’re easy to find, the only difficulty you’ll have is choosing between their delicious flavours.
