Sat in the heart of London's bustling West End is Ripley's Believe It or Not. If you've never visited this treasured London attraction before then you should - it's an absolute must! Twenty of us from Attraction Tickets Direct's London office headed to Picadilly Circus to explore this weird and wonderful museum, some of us devoted fans of Ripley's, others making our visit for the first time with absolutely no idea what to expect!
Ripley's Believe It or Not could not be anymore true to its name - as we explored the weird, wacky, amazing and spectacular exhibits on show we too could not help but question whether we 'believed it or not'. From extraordinary human beings, astonishing human talents, unbelievable truths and mind boggling sensations, Ripley's Believe It or Not is unbelivably bizarre and uniquely entertaining!
Take a look at our favourite exhibits and experiences...
The Black Hole
The Black Hole experience generated the most laughs amongst us. Walking through this black spinning hole leaves gives the sensation of being spun in a washing machine. We found ourselves clinging on to the railings trying to stable ourselves, when in fact, it's not you that's spinning at all. It's the rotating walls of this tunnel that create the spinning sensation!
Impossible Laser Race
This interactive experience had us all in Mission Impossible meets Oceans Twelve mode! Ducking, diving and climbing around these moving laser beams, the mission is to place your hand on an illuminated hand that can appear on either walls of this dark room. Once you have done this, your next mission is to navigate your exit without touching the beams.
Marvellous Mirror Maze
Another interactive experience - what can we say? We're theme park junkies! Through black curtains a trail of us entered a dimly lit room to see ten of ourselves reflected in mirrors that have been strategically placed in all different angles. The objective is to find your way out of this mirrored labyrinth. However, it's not so easy to define passageways from mirrored walls and dead ends - so the key is to feel for empty space using your hands!
The World's Fattest Man
We all enjoy feeling healthy and slim and stood next to the world's fattest man, you can't help but feel slight! A giant scale is placed next to the world's fattest man, Earl Hughes that allows you to jump on the scale and compare your weight to this insanely heavy man. Weighing a shocking 486 kilograms, not even seven of us with our handbags and coats in tow could equal the weight of Earl Hughes.
This freezing exhibit was particularly interesting. Although the 'Chilling' exhibit is merely a tank of water, the water is kept chilled between -2 and 2 degrees Celsius. This is believed to be the temperature of the waters the RMS Titanic capsized in. The exhibit allows you to place your hands within this violently cold water tank and imagine what it might have felt like to have your entire body submerged in water this cold.
