Magic Kingdom tops the charts but Harry Potter attractions are favourite in annual Orlando Awards

Disney’s Magic Kingdom has been named the best theme park in Florida in the annual Orlando Awards, voted for by Attraction Tickets Direct customers.

This is the second year running that Magic Kingdom has won this coveted award, with Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure taking second and third place respectively.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Hogwarts Express won the Best New Attraction with a clear 76% of the votes, while Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts won both first and second place in the Best Overall Attraction in Orlando.

Oliver Brendon, CEO of Attraction Tickets Direct, said: “Our customers know the Florida theme parks better than anyone and the results of this poll show that while the family classics will always be firm-favourites, Orlando is being propelled into the next generation by the new developments and incredible attention to detail as with attractions such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and lots more exciting openings in the next few years.”

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon was voted ‘Favourite Water Park’ while the Kennedy Space Centre was the Best Non-Theme Park Attraction.

Continuing a successful run, Mickey Mouse was once again named the Favourite Theme Park Character with almost 40% of the votes.

Two new questions for 2015 showed that Hard Rock Café at Universal’s CityWalk is the Most Popular Restaurant and the Dolphin Swim at Discovery Cove is far and away the Favourite Animal Experience.
