Last week we informed you that a New Fantasyland Live Chat would be hosted on the Disney Park Blog yesterday, with Disney Imagineer Christ Beatty. We thought we’d summarise the live chat for those of you that were unable to catch the conversation and share the never before seen Be Our Guest footage revealed during the conversation.
New Fantasyland Live Chat Summarised!
See the New Fantasyland from the eyes of the creators themselves!
Yesterday, the 15th October, Disney Parks Blog hosted a live chat with Disney Imagineer Chris Beatty, giving the public the chance to have all their New Fantasyland concerned questions answered.
If you have purchased your Disney tickets chiefly to experience the Beauty and the Beast themed attraction we can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. As much as we are excited about the launch of the New Fantasyland as a whole, we would be lying if we said that the Beauty and the Beast themed attractions hadn’t aroused our interest that little bit more. And funnily enough, it was the Be Our Guest restaurant and the Beast’s Castle that dominated the live chat.
As expected, Chris Beatty confirmed that the Beast’s Castle has been designed to be as faithful to the very castle animated in this Walt Disney Classic as possible, to the point that the Disney Imagineers referred to original illustrations created for the film and spoke to the animators that worked on the movie. However, Beatty does reveal that the Beast’s Castle is so dark and chilling in the film that the Imagineers had to slightly downplay the eeriness.
According to Beatty, on entrance to the castle guests will feel a looming sense of fear and danger. You’ll enter through a lobby embellished with gargoyles, beasts, minotaurs and other disquieting features that will evoke a sense of anxiety. However, as you continue to make your way to the ballroom the atmosphere grows warmer and more welcoming.
Once you step foot inside the Be Our Guest restaurant you will realise immediately that this is so much more than a dining experience. The Imagineers literally insert you into the movie, immersing you into the enchanted and captivating tale of the love story without missing out on any of the iconic features crucial to this Walt Disney Classic.
Become a part of this enchanted tale with your Disney tickets this winter as of the 19th November. If you’re keen to experience the grand opening you’ll need to wait till the 6th December to make your New Fantasyland visit.
