You might think it’s a bit early to be talking about Christmas, but we think it’s never too early! The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is one of our favourite Broadway shows and it’s also a favourite of New Yorkers and tourists alike. If you’re planning a visit to New York City over the festive season, this is something that definitely needs to be on your must-do list.
But, what is it? Well, if you’ve never heard of it before the Radio City Christmas Spectacular is a stunning show filled with music and dancing, that’s just as iconic as the towering Rockefeller Christmas tree and the city’s famous Christmas window displays. It’s one of the oldest New York Christmas traditions and has been running on Broadway for more than 85 years!
When the Radio City Christmas Spectacular kicks off, you know that Christmas has officially begun. The famous ‘Rockettes’ take to the stage to perform amazing dance routines in perfect synchrony, against stunning backdrops of beautiful New York City. Their dazzling costumes brighten up Broadway, and you’ll be mesmerised by their fancy footwork.
That’s not all though. You’ll also see dancing reindeer leap across the stage, marching toy soldiers, snow falling from the sky and even an appearance from Santa Claus himself! You’ll be singing along in no time as the show is filled with classic Christmas songs like ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree' and ‘Jingle Bells’ to name just a few. This amazing Broadway show is great fun for the whole family and there’s no better way to get into the Christmas spirit.
Last year, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular debuted exciting new technology, making the show bigger and better than ever before. Don’t worry though, the traditional elements are all still there, but they are now enhanced with state-of-the-art technology. The show now uses the largest indoor LED screen in the world alongside 3D technology to immerse the audience into the heart-warming story.
This year, the show will start on 9th November, running through to 1st January 2019 and tickets are available now!
