Each year, Mickey Mouse hosts a spectacular Halloween celebration at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, and this year it will be bigger than ever! Starting from 25th August, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will run until 1st November, giving you plenty of time to experience the spook-tacular goings on. If you’re planning on visiting later this year, make sure you don’t miss it!
Here’s 5 things we love about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, that we think you’ll love too…
1. It’s family friendly
One of the things we love most about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is that it’s an event that guests of all ages can enjoy. If you’re visiting with little ones, you don’t have to worry about scary surprises around every corner, as it’s a family-friendly event with lots of fun activities aimed at children. Of course, it wouldn’t be Halloween without a bit of Trick-or-Treating, and guests are encouraged to collect snacks, sweets and plenty of treats from locations around the park. This is sure to put a big smile on the kids (and big kids!) faces.
2. You can ride your favourite attractions in the dark
The Magic Kingdom is home to some of the most iconic rides at Walt Disney World. While we love riding the park’s attractions at any time, it’s even more exciting to be able to ride them in the dark! That’s right, at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, a selection of the park’s most popular attractions will remain open after hours. Imagine the thrill of riding attractions like Dumbo the Flying Elephant, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in the dark! These are just a few of the attractions that will stay open, and guests are welcome to enjoy them all night.
3. The spooky shows
There’s so much to see at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, so make sure you pick up a park map and check out the schedule as soon as you arrive. Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade is a must-see. Line the streets of Main Street U.S.A and watch the Headless Horseman lead a procession of frightening floats. Look out for your favourite Disney characters dressed in their finest Halloween attire and make sure you give them a wave!
The Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular is another great show that brings you face to face with Disney’s most evil villains. The famous Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus are throwing a huge Halloween party, and they’ve invited some of their evil friends along to help conjure up a potion that will cast a spell over the entire Magic Kingdom! You can expect to see the likes of Maleficent, Dr. Facilier and Oogie Boogie, to name just a few.
For something out of the ordinary, head to Frontierland to watch the Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet. Their hilarious routine will have you in stitches as they perform creepy classic like “Cruella De Vil” and “The Oogie Boogie Song”.
4. The decorations
When it comes to Halloween, the Magic Kingdom really does know how to celebrate. The park is transformed into a spooky setting, filled with hundreds of pumpkins, fall foliage, lanterns and Halloween-themed statues. Head to Town Square, to check out the pumpkin citizens. These scarecrow-like creations each represent a different cast member’s role at the Magic Kingdom. Make sure you’ve got your camera with you, as this is a unique opportunity to take plenty of pictures of the park all dressed up for Halloween.
5. The grand finale
The best way to end your visit, is by gathering in front of the Cinderella Castle to admire the Happy HalloWishes firework spectacular. Watch in awe as the night sky is filled with bursts of colour, and Disney’s most notorious villains come out to play! Listen out for the baddies you love to hate, as the voices of Maleficent, Ursula and Cruella De Vil echo through the park. There’ll be a spooky soundtrack to match, and you can expect to hear some creepy classics like “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from the Little Mermaid, “Oogie Boogie’s Song” from The Nightmare Before Christmas, and “Grim Grinning Ghosts” from The Haunted Mansion attraction. This unforgettable show shouldn’t be missed!
