It’s featured in famous Christmas movies like Home Alone 2 and Elf, and now you can be part of the festive fairytale too as you skate and slide your way round the Rockefeller ice rink. The rink opened for its 81st year this October, but it’s the first year you can buy your tickets from Attraction Tickets Direct, so we thought that was worth celebrating.
All of our ice skating experiences are paired with a dining experience that is guaranteed to make your visit memorable. Whether you’re visiting morning, day or night you’ll be able to choose an experience that suits you.
Kicking off the day, there are two breakfast dining options. If you’re a super early riser (or if you’re just enjoying the effects of the time difference) make your way down to the rink for the ‘First skate’. This means you’ll be the first on the rink at 7am in the morning, in the first morning light under the stunning Christmas tree. After just over an hour to skate you’ll be served a delicious breakfast from 5 choices at the Rock Center Café – AND you’ll still have a full day ahead of you to explore. Breakfast options include buttery pancakes topped with whipped butter and maple syrup and an American style cooked breakfast.
If that sounds a little bit too early for you, the second breakfast, ‘Perfect Start’, starts at 7:45 (same choices for breakfast as before) and you’ll go on the ice at the slightly more agreeable hour of 8:30am!
If early mornings just aren’t your thing, you might want to try the Afternoon Tea and Skate option, which takes place at 2:30, 4:30 and 6:30 every day. Your tea party will consist of cute sandwiches in flavours such as salmon or chicken curry followed by a selection of miniature desserts like chocolate chip scones and passion fruit tarts. Hot drinks to warm you up before going on the ice include delicious hot chocolate and luxury teas. If you’d prefer an alcoholic drink and hot appetizers, try out the Apres Skate package which takes place at the same times and also includes a skate on the rink after.
Finally, if instead you fancy the idea of a romantic skate in the twilight under the twinkling lights of the huge Christmas tree, you’ll want to check out the dinner and skate options. Skating starts at 4:30pm and 6:30pm, with dining reservations next to the rink at 6pm and 8pm respectively. If you want to take your dining experience to the next level though, opt for dinner in the rink side restaurant, The Sea Grill, where you’ll experience a 3-course dinner of the finest seafood. After dinner, you’ll enter the rink through the VIP igloo, where you can skate until as late as 12 in the morning!
