Most people visiting Orlando in search of theme park fun, tend to spend at least one day outside of the parks. The theme parks are huge and require lots of walking around, so when you’re ready for a bit of a break, I-Drive is the perfect place to go. There’s so much to do that you could easily spend a full day here. Here are just a few of the fun things you can do during your visit…
1. Mingle with celebrities
Ever dreamed of snapping a selfie with your favourite celebrity? Well at Madame Tussauds you’ll be in “selfie heaven” and can get up close to popstars, sporting heroes and world-famous actors! While they might not be real, they certainly look it. Make sure you take plenty of photos, so you can show all your friends! Brad Pitt, Justin Bieber, Jimmy Fallon, Channing Tatum, Katy Perry and Marilyn Monroe are just a few of the familiar faces you can expect to see.
2. Soar above the city
The Coca-Cola Orlando Eye takes you 400-feet into the air, giving you the best possible view of the city. This impressive observation wheel is the tallest on the entire East Coast of the USA, boasting spectacular panoramic views.
Each capsule contains an Apple iPad Air which you can use to learn more about the landmarks surrounding you. Look down and admire the lush landscapes, glistening lakes, nearby theme parks and if you look really closely, you might even spot the Kennedy Space Center in the distance. With ticket prices starting from just £19 this is a great value experience you won’t want to miss.
3. Enjoy some retail therapy
If you want to pick up a few souvenirs to take home or you just fancy treating yourself (you are on holiday after all!), International Drive is the place to go to bag yourself a bargain. Orlando International Premium Outlets is Florida’s largest outlet shopping destination, and it’s conveniently located on International Drive.
The mall is home to more than 180 designer and big-name brand outlet stores, offering incredible discounts from 25%-65%! You’ll find Adidas, Calvin Klein, Gap, Michael Kors, Victoria’s Secret and much more. There’s also a Disney Outlet store, where you’ll find loads of fantastic discounted Disney merchandise. Get ready to shop ‘til you drop!
4. Bar hop
There are so many great bars on I-Drive, making this the perfect place for a fun night out. We love Tin Roof for its live music and tasty bar food, the Blue Martini Bar for specialty cocktails and Miller’s Ale House for when you want to watch the big game. For something totally different, head to ICEBAR Orlando which is the largest permanent ice bar in the world! Wrap up warm and enjoy a drink (or two!) in this unique bar that’s made from more than 70-tons of hand-carved ice!
5. Experience the ‘Outta Control’ show with unlimited pizza!
The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner has been voted one of Orlando’s best dinner shows. You’re guaranteed a fun-filled evening at this hilarious show, which as you can probably tell by the name, includes lots of comedy and impressive magic tricks. The audience doesn’t just watch the show, they become part of it. So, expect to be part of the action at any moment!
What’s even better, is that you’ll be able to enjoy unlimited pizza and dessert during the show, as well as unlimited beer, wine and soda! Sounds good, right? The show is located inside the WonderWorks amusement park, which has over 100 weird and wonderful interactive exhibits, including the Bed of Nails and the Anti-Gravity Chamber! Arrive early if you want to spend some time exploring WonderWorks before the show.
