‘Put the pedal to the plastic’ next time you visit LEGOLAND Florida and try out the park’s re-imagined VR coaster ‘The Great LEGO Race’. The new attraction opens to the public on Friday 23rd March and merges the exciting world of VR technology with the colourful world of LEGO.
Check out this video for a sneak peek of the on-board ride experience…
As you can see from the video, the story behind the attractions is that riders are in an epic race against LEGO minifigures, even taking to the air in a wacky race that pits guests against a pirate, wizard, surfer and pharaoh as they steer vehicles made out of LEGO bricks around the wild track! Each of the vehicles is ornately designed to reflect the rider, so expect some surprises there.
Guests wear optional yellow VR headsets (painted with cheeky LEGO faces of course!) in order to enter this crazy virtual world – bringing a whole new dimension (literally) to the attraction.
“The Great LEGO Race was inspired by the way kids play with LEGO toys at home,” said Candy Holland, senior creative director for Merlin Magic Making, which designs and develops attractions for Merlin Entertainments sites around the world. “It’s a unique LEGO adventure that lets kids enter an epic imaginary world made entirely from LEGO bricks, featuring a host of different themes and fun LEGO characters, all mixed up together.”
This ride will be suitable for all children over 42” tall although the VR headset is only recommended for children 6 and above.
